With a 22-second web spot for HRC’s New Yorkers for Marriage Equality (Campaign For New York Marriage?), Barbara Bush, the former president’s daughter, has set everyone in a tizzy because hey, her father sort of has this reputation for hating on gays. Just like that Meghan McCain person! And with this announcement, Barbara reveals she’s in the majority. But inside the same-sex marriage fight, Barbara’s support isn’t a surprise; she’s been showing her head at gay fundraisers in the NYC area for months now.
@kayla:
You’re being sarcastic right?
All the gay teens being bullied, harassed and beaten by other teens might beg to differ. Let’s not even talk about the ones who are already dead.
As far as Barbara Bush goes, good for her! I hope she really believes what she’s saying, and is not riding the hip to support the gays bandwagon.

No I’m being serious, at the school I attend I have yet to meet anyone who is anti-gay! Now I went to a very religious high school…so of course there were people who were anti-gay. But in my College experience, I have yet to meet anyone my age, who’s anti-gay…Perhaps they’re all in the closet….Is it so hard to believe? Maybe I just have really cool friends, and acquaintances…

this just goes to show you how much of the fight against gay marriage is a generational thing. On fortunately there are many people who needs the protections afforded by marriage a lot sooner than it will take for the older generation to die off.

I agree with Kayla. The school I attended for college was in Northern Minnesota, and I never encountered anyone who was even moderatelty anti-gay (some maybe used slurs, but they never spoke out against equality).
As far as Barbera Bush being liberal, she and Jenna also voiced support for the Health Care Reform bill that was passed, which is VERY uncommon for Republicans!

Not-Jenna joins her sister, Jenna and mother, Pickles Bush in support of gay marriage.
This means, 75% of the Bush family is pro-gay marriage. I bet the Chimp is on suicide watch about now.
In any event, not-Jenna is a member of the post-Will and Grace generation of Republicans who are diametrically different from old, country club Republicans who loathe “teh gays.”
