The amount of shade in this article is insane. Do not shade my King B, thanks.
Barbra Streisand is the definition of “iconic” but I’m disappointed with her here. Why couldn’t she choose somebody a bit more substantial than Lady Gaga or Beyonce? How about choosing a gay male? Gay men don’t get much of a look-in throughout the music industry.
She could have chosen a gay male vocalist but failed.
Don’t like Barbra Streisand?
Barbra Streisand wipes her ass with people like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and whoever else is gyrating for record deals. Babs has more talent in her Jewish pinky finger than any other “diva” could have in their lifetime.
I’m 18, and my age group needs to realize that Barbra was singing to gays in Greenwich Village decades before “it was cool” and will always and forever be the greatest female musician of the 20th Century.
LoL, tell us how you really feel!
Barbra’s rendition of The Way We Were in 1975 is pure gold. I link to this iconic performance, sung completely live:
Can you imagine today’s young “divas” doing this? I can’t. Today’s young “divas” are fakes who built careers on Auto Tune, miming and the use of pre-record.
Josh Groban is not openly gay.
As for Beyonce being substantial, LOL. She’s as substantial as her fake singing of the National Anthem. Enough with this cow.
Beyonce and Lady Gaga are two of the best female vocalist at the moment and are also both triple threats, why wouldn’t Barbara want to sing with them? Aside from the fact Barbara actually likes Beyonce, there still remains that wonderful tribute Beyonce did of the Way We Were for her. It’s so annoying that people gripe and complain about any newer artists who actually have talent and hate the fact that older Icons give a seal of approval to them. Let Beyonce and Lady Gaga win they have both worked there asses off to make it.
@ardillo: I dont care who she or any other artist was or is singing to or where, I’m just saying I didnt like how he shaded Beyoncé. Nor did I say that I didn’t like Streisand. I know she is a legend, but Beyoncé can hold her own aswell! And just because you listen to music thats not from today doesnt make you better than anyone else. Everyone has their own taste.
Really? Why the Lady Gaga and Beyonce shade? Lady Gaga is actually the most famous celebrity at the moment according to Guinness in 2013 and #2 celebrity according to Forbes (behind Oprah), and a really talented singer. You could have reported on her singing “You’ve Got a Friend” last night for MusiCares where she blew everyone away and got a standing ovation. But no, it’s in right now to drag her. Lady Gaga has done so much for gay rights, but gay people have turned their backs on her.
@Dev.C: Very well said Dev.
Not sure why this article is so negative…. Of course it goes without saying that Barbra is a talent that is unmatched and has had an extremely long career. Given all of that, why would she NOT want to work with Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and other very well known and award-winning talent?? Do you think she would rather work with UNSUCCESSFUL artists?? Haha! She hasn’t gotten this far without being a very smart business woman.
They should call it FUR HAGS. Because all three of them endorse animal cruelty by wearing real fur. Disgusting!! Beyoncé even produced her own clothing line with real fur! There are YouTube videos of protests you can watch!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s great to know that a person your age enjoys her music because it seems a lot of guys your age never bothered to listen before trashing her. You should do whatever you can to see her live if possible. A truly life-changing experience for someone who loves her as much as we do.
@queertyreader: Do you feel better?
Clearly written by a white gay man. Weak ass shade with minimal wit.
I happen to think Gaga is a damn good singer and a collaboration with Streisand should be a lot of fun! I’m guessing it will be an up tempo and fun; probably paying some serious homage to Barbra’s stylish 60′s and/or 70′s look(s). … Beyonce, not so much.
