Bareback Blog Makes Us Sick
While the fact that someone’s gone and made a Mark Foley doll – and that they’re definitely going to make a bundle off of their creation – may be a bit disturbing to some, we’re more disturbed by the emergence of a new blog: Confessions of a Bareback Top.
As if you can’t figure it out, the site’s devoted to the conquests of a bareback top who writes in his first post:
I am a “down-low” bareback top which means when you see me online or in chats with friends, I only confess to SAFE ONLY sex….but when my hook ups come over – I try my hardest to fuck them raw and cum inside of them – even if they ask me not to.
I have broken condoms, taken condoms off, and forced my load into young bottoms, etc.
Alright. We’re not prudes. Far from it. In fact, we’ve twice been nominated for Whore-Slut-Slag of the Year. (Sadly, we didn’t win.) But, we’ve got to say we’re pretty grossed out by this new addition to the blogosphere.
We understand plenty of folk out there are into barebacking – and, you know, that’s fine. If you want to fuck around and take chances, do it. What’s exceptionally disturbing is that this man tricks people into barebacking. We’re not lawyers, but this must be illegal. And, if it’s not illegal, it should be.
What’s more, homie has a disclaimer on his site that reads:
I would rather keep this site anonymous and not post any photos of myself nor would I post photos of my hookups because it would threaten the integrity of who I am and the fact that I’m not upfront about barebacking.
Does anyone else see something wrong with this repudiation? His “integrity” of not being “upfront”?
This guy’s either a complete fucking idiot or…well, a complete fucking idiot. How can a lie have integrity? Have we slipped into some parallel dimension? Someone please explain, because we’ve been trying to figure it all out and developed quite the headache.
while u may be right, mike, and this guy is just trying to get attention, the simple fact of the matter is that bareback sex is getting more popular, not the other way around. if u live in san francisco, LA or new york, it’s pretty hard to ignore the fact that lots of young guys (between 18-29) are joining the bareback scene. some are fucked up on meth, some are just horny and don’t care, and some do have a bit of a death wish. in my opinion, the most disturbing part of this guy’s blog, if you’ve read it, is the fact that two of his main conquests are latinos who appear to come from lower socio-economic backgrounds (one he labels an “aggressive bottom thug”). when reporting about the bareback scene, as usual, the queer media has pretty much whitewashed everything, showing us white guys strung out on meth fisting each other, yet many of the most prevalent bareback scenes exist in black and brown communities, where issues of homophobia, repression and other cultural (as well as socio-economic) factors can contribute more to dangerous behavior than drugs. i think it’s important to acknowledge that this dude probably is just trying to get attention, but at the same time remember that he may actually be doing these things, and many others like him are doing it too. and then there are more who intend to be safe, but for some reason allow themselves to compromise their standards in the heat of the moment. it’s scary shit

I don’t think anyone is saying it’s OK to “take chances,” but what the fuck is queerty supposed to say? Consenting adults can do what they want. It’s unfortunate that so many of them consent to unsafe behavior.

There’s not even any evidence that these sorts of blogs are even true tales. The fact this guy (and some other, more “famous” sex blogs) choose to hide their identities, give them the creative freedom to write anything and claim that they really happened. I am not going to be shocked or outraged by something that might have been born out of someone’s active imaginations.

Our ‘homie’ should do a little history research.
First, he should read “Faggots” by Larry Kramer. Not the mmost entertaining tome, but it gets the point across. It was published in 1978.
Then, he should probably Google “Rare Cancer Seen In Gay Men” and look for hits from June, 1981.
Then, fast forward to the CDC’s HIV stats for 2006, paying close attention to the totals of deaths by year.
It’s only a matter of time before our soon-to-be HIV positive protaganist – and all his stupid bedmates – have the shakes so badly that his blog will look like its’ written in Swahili.

While I find the two “stories†I read pretty disgusting. I think the reason he doesn’t want to post pics is either that he doesn’t want to be outed as a fraud by the users of his hook-up sites, or he’s lying in his blog and doesn’t want to be outed by his hook-ups.
