Mr. Frank is a brilliant person. He has prestigious Ivy credentials. He has created a political career in progress. The late Tip O’Neill once believed that he might have become the first Jewish-American House speaker. Out of the closet, he has become a leading DLC voice in and out of majority status.

Barney Frank’s homosexual orientation first came to light when he was embroiled in a scandal involving a prostitutional roommate. In the past two decades, Mr. Frank has stabilised his life and he declared that he is in a lifelong relationship.

Mr. Frank does not believe in marriage equality. No, he does not believe in it for himself or for others. Mr. Frank wants civil unionisations on a federal level. Mr. Frank wanted the Kerry seat had he won the presidency. Mr. Frank wants to move from the left to the right side of Capitol Hill. The DLC like Mr. Frank. His sister has worked for DLC founder Bill Clinton in the West Wing. Barney is not a liberal by any generous definition of that term. Barney’s beliefs are strictly tied, in my opinion, to pragmatic poll-driven calculations. Like HRC, the man is not a civil rights statesman by any minimal definition of that term, either.

Mr. Frank seems to be just one more self-loathing gay man who probably wouldn’t even be “out” if he hadn’t been outed in the prostitution scandal. This morning, I am very sad for Baldwin, too. When will these Democrats realize that their colleagues do not view them as equal and that they would feel better about themselves if they did the right things ?
