Bass Rings The Nasdaq Bell

bassnasdaq.jpg
Lil’ Lance Bass got a big opportunity yesterday when Nasdaq invited him to close trading for the day. The temporary – and controversial – New Yorker, who’s staring in Hairspray, received the invitation after signing on to host Broadway to Broadway.

Lance Bass is not “starring” in Hairspray. That’s still Shannon Durig’s territory, although, you could make a case to throw in Ashley Parker Posey or whatever his name is. But let’s not inflate Lance’s ego by saying he’s “starring.”

Love him, but his facial hair is so much lighter than his (fake) brunette hair. Get on that, girlfriend.

Think SAVED by the bell. Lance celebrates EVERYday that he finally had the sense to pull his dick out of Reichen’s ass for the last time.

A “starring” role can be so ambiguous. What is starring – the lead, or the person who gets people into the seats? Certainly, the most recognizable figure in Hairspray today is Lance Bass and, given the fact that they brought him on (without any previous Broadway experience), the producers of Hairspray obviously wanted a big name to bring in the masses. So, especially given the fact that Corney Collins is not an insignificant role, I’d certainly say he really is “starring” in Hairspray.

Don’t forget that in the movie, the leading lady was pretty much last on the credits – and John Travolta’s first, despite the fact that his part really isn’t much bigger than Corney Collins.

I’m gonna go with the leads. And who says that the most recognizable person is Lance Bass? I know a number of people (sure, I want to shoot most of them)who know who Ashley Parker Angel is and not Lance Bass.

And, why Lance Bass if they want to bring in the “masses?” Does he registar on some radar that I’m not attuned to? He’s not a draw for anyone not already predisposed to wanting to see Hairspray.
