Caroline Kennedy is hosting a fancy fundraiser at her Upper West Side home tonight for her cousin Joseph Kennedy, reports Page Six.
Joseph would be the beautiful ginger prince who will be running for Barney Frank’s Massachusetts seat in Congress. It seems Queerty’s efforts to seduce him into the political sphere with public love letters have been successful.
With guests asked to donate up to $5,000 to attend, the invitation says Caroline and her husband will “open their home for a reception with a newcomer you will be hearing a lot about. Joe Kennedy is smart, hard-working and charismatic… This is a race we do not want to lose with a truly fine candidate.”
Truly fine, indeed.
How about we take this to the next level?

Whatever. Because there can never be too many professional political families who can’t do anything but run for office and legislate your payroll taxes when they’ve never had to manage one themselves. Fresh out of law school I bet he is.
Curtis
If the Kennedys aren’t a family dynasty, I don’t know what is.. Here is to the rich, powerful bloodlines that continue to reign over this nation.
pierre
Doesn’t she live on Park Ave?
Andy
Yeah, what a terrible guy. Graduated from Stanford and Harvard Law. Went into the Peace Corps and served in the Dominican Republic. Worked Pro bono with people who were caught up in the mortgage crisis. Worked in as a prosecutor in a DA’s office in Massachusetts.
Now he wants to serve the people of the 4th district in the thankless job of congressman. How dare he? What an asshole.
ousslander
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. After elected I’m sure he’ll follow in his families their footsteps like rape, dui and such.
ousslander
family’s footsteps
Dick
No. 1–You lose your bet. I live in his district and know about him. The guy running against him does not even say he is a republican in any of his campaigning.

@Andy:
DAs are heartless, angry, liars that do Satan’s bidding.

@Curtis:
Sounds like you have faced some good ones in the courtroom. Are you currently in the same pen that Ravi is heading to?
Jase
@Curtis: got busted, eh?
Curtis
@Xerxes: @Jase:
I’m flattered you would presume so much @.@
No no, I’ve just read a lot of John Grisham.
Anyway, I would trust a street “criminal” over a white-collar criminal on capital hill any day.
AEH
Beautiful ginger prince? Truly fine? I’m squinting but I just can’t seem to see it.

@ousslander:
The Kennedy’s have always been on our side. You shouldn’t speak about your allies that way. We need as many as we can get.

all of america’s “royalty” were robber barrons…and they ARE A DYNASTY whether you like them or not. I personally prefer them over the bush dynasty
CBRad
I love redheads, but he’s a pretty mediocre-looking one. Not ugly..but.. Anyway, nothing against him.

“Ted Kennedy was considered to be one of the biggest advocates of LGBT rights in the U.S. Senate, and he has received ratings of 100 percent by the Human Rights Campaign for the 107th, 108th and 109th sessions of U.S. Congress indicating that he voted in support of issues the HRC considers important with regards to equality for LGBT persons. He was a supporter of same-sex marriage and was one of the fourteen senators to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. He also voted against the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment in 2004 and 2006.”

Admittedly, JFK’s, Teddy’s older brother, was a vile homophobe and even Robert Kennedy was a bit too chummy with Joseph McCarthy and his “Communist Witch Hunts” in the 1950s. Kennedy served as legal assistant to Senator Joseph R. McCarthy during the infamous House Un-American Activities Commission hearings which sought to ruin the reputations of many American intellectuals and artists by labeling them Communist Subversives if they entertained any notion of a more egalitarian society that didn’t proclaim the false virtues of capitalism in regards to public education, taxes, fair wages, and health care.
Homosexuals, during this period, were also unjustly attacked during the anti-Communist hysteria at the time by being labeled a “threat to nation security” subject to blackmail and manipulation by enemies of the United States. Thousands of accused homosexuals lost their jobs in the federal government and at federally funded universities during this rein of terror during the 1950s into the 1960s. Unfortunately, Robert Kennedy as attorney General also continued that abuse into his brother’s brief presidency, as well as Pres. Johnson’s AG for a year just before he left office to run as an anti-Vietnam War candidate and as a “liberal” in his ill-fated presidential campaign.
President John F. Kennedy, objected when foreign homosexuals who wished to immigrate to America were reclassified as “suffering from a mental illness” — which excluded them from entry into the United States. Pres. Kennedy insisted that they be classified instead as “sexual deviants” which implied a criminal classification. Needless to say, JFK was no friend of the GLBT community.
In many ways, John F. Kennedy was no different than Barack Obama who directed his Justice Department for over two years of his presidency to defend DOMA by comparing the marriages of Gays and Lesbians to the illegal incestuous relationships of closely related family members who attempt to wed. After alienating his progressive base, which stayed home in droves during the 2010 midterm elections, the Democrats lost the House and nearly the Senate — Obama dropped his defense of DOMA shortly thereafter.
Auntie Mame
Meh. Another rich straight dude who won’t give a rat’s ass about the gay community.
Andy
@Curtis Glad you picked out the one possibly-less-than-positive thing in his bio to gripe about. All in all, he seems like a decent human being whose intentions are in the right place in his desire to serve.
Hey everyone, I have an idea. Let’s let him actually, oh I don’t know, campaign for office and then if he gets elected actually SERVE before rushing to judge him. He hasn’t really even had a chance to issue a press release before we get the “HE’S A KENNEDY! HE’S A TERRIBLE HOMOPHOBE/RACIST/CRIMINAL/SATAN-WORSHIPER OHMYGOD!!!1!!11!!!one!” Especially from the gays. Always so vindictive, fellas…
