Because in America we only make boring marriage equality ads like this, there’s now a Facebook fundraising campaign to get the mega-awesome Australian marriage equality ad, “It’s Time,” on U.S. television. While we’d love to see our fantasy boyfriend Julian Shaw propose to us on national TV, we expect the ad will only air on LOGO or some hippie liberal channel like MTV or MSNBC, while the other channels say that they don’t air politically divisive ads. After that, they’ll show some commercial with a smiling lady watching her idiot husband get hit in the nards by his stupid brat kid… because that’s what Americans like.
IT'S WAY PAST TIME
Because U.S. Marriage Equality Ads Suck, Americans Try To Get An Awesome Australian Ad On TV

What a beautiful ad. Well done!

That last part is so true, sadly

He’s straight!? Damn. There goes my crush, lol.

Lovely ad. Lovely message. But whatever form it comes in, I’m tired of having to hear it. Utterly SICK of it, in fact. I’m really fed up–with glacially slow corrupt government, with the two-party system, with chickenshit media outlets, religion, and LGBT supporters who treat Equality as though it’s the latest thing off the runways instead of something to get enraged about and FIGHT for. While I’m at it, I might as well throw in banks, selfish rich fucks, and conservative types who piss their pants at the mere thought that even a tiny shred of their beloved status quo might be toppled. I wouldn’t deign to piss on such worthless bastards if I found them engulfed in flame.
Seriously. Fuck. All. That. Shit.
The PROBLEM is that their are an awful lot of sick fucks–millions of ’em, in fact–who should be dead or permanently locked away, whose opinions still matter because everyone else acts as though such parasites have a “right” to force their opinions, their greed, and their fear on all of society. The SOLUTION is a very, very large group of righteously and resolutely pissed-off folks who realize that it takes a lot more than tug-at-your-heart ad campaigns to defeat Nazis, and who are willing to give the parasites something to truly be afraid of.
Knowing The Gays as I do though, I’m not holding my breath.

Every single network that has aired the “And I’m a Mormon” videos should agree to pick this one up, as well.
And play them back-to-back, with this one always being second.
Brandon
Why is Dan Villarreal referring to himself with the royal “we”? He barely merits an “I”.
Skip
@Brandon: Um, because he’s writing on behalf of Queerty, not himself? Just a guess.
Erich
@Dave: Amen Bro.
~PR~
@Brandon: Becuase he uses ‘we’ to desribe what ‘we’ do in America, something he is part of, so his use of ‘we’ is actually appropriate.

Maybe the anti-gay crowd in Australia will decide to borrow the “Gathering storm” ad to use in their own campaign 🙂
Kyle
@Dave: 100% correct.

Why did they choose a purported straight guy for the ad? It just seems so fake. Typical Australians – they’re so fake.

Don’t make those millions dead, make em slave labor, just like their Bible tells them its ok. They will be respectful and decent slaves, and who knows, we might get so see some more of those plagues on Egypt (maybe even scare the military there into submission!)
Go go go!
P.S. I want the right to marry the person I love.
