Big, Big Loss.
“In its most recent quarterly filing PlanetOut Inc. reported an accumulated deficit — that’s how much money it’s lost since it started — of nearly $100 million. The San Francisco web portal, which is aimed at the lesbian, gay and transgendered market, reported an accumulated deficit of $99.8 million as of March 31. For that quarter, PlanetOut lost $10.4 million on sales of $4.8 million.” [SF Business Times]

This story is old news. That filing was in May, about a business cycle that ended in March. There won’t likely be another filing until August.
This makes me sad, cuz I met my partner of 7 years now through PlanetOut. Sigh.
yeah no wonder membership is 20 bucks a month.
Always found it oddly ironic that membership at Planet Out and Gay.com is 3x the cost of joining a “hookup site.”
Salaries to senior execs alone probably eat all the profits. The rest is on the backs of investors.
