He used to be so handsome… then he had to go and get a facelift.

A 50 year old trying to dress like a 20 year old.

@ggreen: He's 50!!! He looks good for 50. Kudos to him. Let him dress as he pleases.

@Patrick: Ha. Yeah, he does look doable still.

it's clearly a slow news day.

Mr. Everett does look a little glum. A smile would help a lot.
Why is he wearing a visored cap backwards? Only teen-agers and the really clueless think such an appearance is appealing. You'd think a fifty-year old would know better. I'm sorry it was necessary to say all this. Maybe he needs more affection and encouragement. And fashion guidance.

Dear god let me live long enough to see gay men wearing something besides cargo shorts/pants and skinny "lady" jeans.

He's not glum, his face lift is sagging. He'll look like Droopy pretty soon.

Just in case Rupert's reading…
I saw you in Blithe Spirit and loved it. You were brilliant.
If you want to update that hat (seasonally speaking), there's a great hat shop close to your theater at 614 8th Avenue near 41st Street.

Hilarious comments! I'm 48 and if we dress "our age" people think we can't keep up with the times. If we dress too trendy they think we are delusional. He looks good, is dressed simply and casually and is not walking around with a phony face for the benefit of the photogs. Doable, YES!

Oh please, if he were a hetero, you guys would be stumbling over yourselves about how much you want to suck his d***. He looks great, is dressed fine and as far as the hat goes, tell Samuel L. Jackson he looks foolish wearing his the exact same way. I'd be frowning too if I were strolling down the street and strangers were taking my photo.

I know he is old enough to be my father, but still, I would like to cheer him UP.

@rick: Pot, meet Kettle? Had a leading role on Broadway lately? Moron.

Ennyhoo, maybe the headline should begin "Bitter Queerty Editors…" They bitch, moan and complain because celebs won't come out, then turn around and trash the ones who do (cause they're never ENOUGH), and write assumptive, negative headlines to tack above photos of one who could simply have been in a contemplative mood, (for any number of reasons, thinking about any number of things) when he was unknowingly photographed from across the street. Grow up Queerty.

Hi Rikard! Thank you for defending us late-40s! :-) Very true that we are either dress young and are told to look our age-or dress our age and are told we should "think young"! GRRR! I didn't realize Rupert was 50! He looked younger to me.

I think a basic white T, cargo pants and sneakers are perfectly acceptable for a 50-year-old. Maybe not the backward lid, but I'm willing to give him a pass on that too.

Ah Queerty, home of bitter queens who will commit suicide when they hit 40.

Unless the youngsters create Carousel and convince oldsters that it's as hip as botox.

First of all I don't think Rupert is looking glum, if you look at old photo's you will see that is more the shape of his mouth. Not all of us were born with the corners of our mouth going north. His clothes, WTF is wrong with his clothes, he is wearing a white t-shirt and some sport pants. The hat? Its neither bad nor good, it just is. I know Rupert has been a bit negative the last few years but for Christ sake most of these posts are ridiculous. And its a huge myth that just because a person is gay they are better dressed. Most gay people I know have shit taste at any age they find themselves to be.

@ ALL THE HATERS: The guy still looks great! If he would let you, you would all be down on your knees in a lickety spit second! We can tell you all have that dream and hating won't make it a reality either.
@ JIM: Hear! Hear! I myself made the same point, many times, on this and similar sites.

Oh, he looks fine, it's just not the face I used to like.

If he was dressed as a 20yrs old, he either be wearing one of those polyester/cotton blends that was 2x smaller than his right normal size, and with one of those lame tired prints on the front.
and his pants would be down around his pubic hair level, about to slide off.
he probably feels like I do, INVISABLE in the gay community. cause im a single middle aged gay man.

Perhaps he looks miserable in the photos because he's a miserable person. After his comments about gay marriage and gay parenting, he shouldn't be given any acting roles except by Focus on the Family in its hatefomercials. If any heterosexual person had made the statements about gay marriage and gay parenting that he made, y'all would be screaming for his head on a silver platter. Instead, his hate filled homophobic right wing rants are OK because he's a fag. Disgusting hypocrisy.
