Bow Wow's Boots Were Made For Rappin'

Hahaha. Rumored fagala young rapper Bow Wow asserts his masculinity by rapping over Nancy Sinatra’s 1966 camp class "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'." [Rod 2.0]

I've always loved (looking at) Bow Wow, but someone should tell homie who Nancy is. This video does NOTHING to shoot down the gay rumors, but will probably add to them. Lol!

…I don't hate it, which is very strange for me.

I don't hate him, either, which is just as odd…

OK, thank you Queerty for picking this up. I saw this on Rod's yesterday and DIED laughing.

And I don't even like Lil Bow Wow.

What makes you think he doesn't know who Nancy Sinatra is?

@Chitown Kev: Afrolito assumes that because Bow Wow is a young black male, he can't be familiar with Nancy Sinatra.

Newsflash to Afrolito: Nancy has been sampled by a few hip hop, rock and pop acts and some of her songs still get plenty of airplay so the younger generation of all races are probably familiar with her, not to mention the cred she gets off her last name. You don't have to be old and/or white and/or gay to know who she is.

@Michael W.:

First time we ever "talked" Michael W.

But I'm sorry, if you are trying to avoid gay rumors, as Lil Bow Wow is, you just can't go around sampling THIS song.

Now all we need is for Miss Frankie Knuckles to hook up some house remixes to this.

I'm Bow Wow's age and gay and didn't know that Nancy Sinatra was a gay icon. It doesn't surprise me either

Nancy aside, he seem a bit out of his league here w. the bravado. He's a bit precious to pull off the thug moment and the mag cover v. some actual big titty ho is kind of silly too. It's cute, in a "wanna be" sort of way, I guess.

Actually, I just googled him and he's definitely not a "turd." Bow Wow still is still a lot more attractive, but Romeo gets a few points for being a Trojan.

Bitch puhleeze, You don't know anything about me or hip hop for that matter. I'd bet anything you've never even heard of Bow Wow before this post. The only "newsflash" is that you're the same moronic racist you've always been, and your only purpose for posting in this thread was too take a dig at me.

LMFAO! @ you speaking for the hip hop community on our musical knowledge.

Bitch, who are you calling granny? I'm old enough to be yo' daddy, that's true…oh, we're talking about gay years. lol

If Bow Wow didn't know then Jermaine Dupri (who produced this, I believe) surely did. I mean, if you are trying to duck and dodge gay rumors and affairs, sampling THIS song is tantamount to sampling Patrick Cowley's synth sound on "You Make Me Feel Mighty Real."

Of course, Bow Wow may not be trying to duck and dodge, either.

@afrolito: Hip Hop has become such a disgusting culture, I don't see why you're proud to lay claim to that garbage. I used to be into it and I probably have more knowledge on anything from the past two decades than you do. But I also grew up and abandoned it like most white kids after they begin to mature and see it for the worthless filth that it is. That's why it's not destructive for us because we (for the most part) leave it in our childhood where it belongs.

I left it alone in the late 80's with all this gangsta rap shit. And even KRS-One used to get on my nerves with all that phony black nationalist shit. I couldn't tell anyone much about any aspect of it now.

Funny thing is my long distance -ex (who's white) loves hip hop but not gangsta rap.

@TANK:

Well.

Michael says that white kids abandoned it, which is true, but there's a whole new generation of white kids that are buying it too (though not as much as they used to, true.)

Just because he's racist doesn't mean that I don't agree with him about a lot of popular hip hop, though.

Except for Nancy's part, of course.

Guys ignore Michael W he posts this stuff for attention. He is obviously a disenfranchised guy who feels a bit more powerful by making these silly race baiting comments. Clearly he wants a reaction I say why give it to him.

@TANK: I'm not racist and frankly I haven't said anything here that could prove me racist. You don't have to be of a certain race to see how low and worthless hip hop has become over the years. There's plenty of African-Americans who agree with me.

Unfortunately they're mostly of the older, harder-working persuasion who didn't have their world handed to them. They had to struggle for theirs. Meanwhile the first generation of black people raised entirely in Uncle Sam's entitlement society had gangsta rap in their ears, telling them that pitching on a corner is a skillset for employment and you can never impregnate enough young girls out of wedlock. The effects will be felt for decades to come.

@Chitown Kev: The beat was definitely catchy, I'll give you that. I just didn't find anything entertaining or interesting in Bow Wow's lyrics. It came across as ridiculously safe, post-Disney, cartoonishly boastful gobbledygook to me. It is my opinion that Bow Wow's presence on the track contributed nothing of meaning to the song. His presence in the video did contribute something meaningful to my boxer briefs, but that's another story. :P

And yes, I think perhaps a nice remix would prove moderately interesting, maybe something using a little more than two syllables from Ms. Sinatra.

I'm still waiting for a hip-hop act to try digging something interesting out of "Some Velvet morning" though. Maybe I should just try it myself.
