      Well, the SCOTUS did agree that the BSA was a ‘church’ group. They could freely
      discriminate. You don’t have to be members of the RCC to be pedophiles or to
      cover it up.

      The Boy Scouts are primarily a Mormon and Catholic group at this point. They aren’t able to use the facilities at most public schools anymore due to their bigotry, yet in Utah, Idaho etc… practically every single Mormon church ward has it’s scouting troop as do many Catholic church’s.

      From their behavior, protecting molesters etc… it seems as if their leaders went to the same schools that the members of the College of Cardinals all went to. Ratzinger is SO proud.

      Shortly after the BSA v Dale landmark, (in which it was NEVER so much as implied that Mr. Dale had behaved inappropriately with boys, nor that he presented any danger to the boys) a BSA married-father-of-two executive was busted for trafficking child porn.

      Like the Catholics, BSA blames gay people generally for the crimes of pedophiles, so they’ll kick out a respectable guy like James Dale even as they promote a child sex predator.

      Both the RCC and the BSA would rather stand by their antigay bigotry at the kid’s expense then simply concede they have been wasting their time scapegoating gays instead of actually screening out child molesters.

      I find it ironic that the organizations that fight tooth and nail to prohibit openly gay men and women from joining their ranks–the Boy Scouts, the clergy of various Christian denominations, religious schools, the Hollywood Establishment– are the very organizations running rampant with pedophiles and cases of child abuse. Hypocrite much?

      @ChiGuy76: Good point.

      It’s much easier to blame other people for your problems than to actually correct the problem. Look for the BSA to continue to fight to hide their complicity in their own pedophilia scandal, and to ratchet up the homophobic rhetoric. The point is to divert everyone’s attention and keep them afraid of the gays, and then they don’t have to actually do anything about the problem.

      Its really sad, I was in the BSA back in the 70′s and 80′s I had a great time and made lots of good friends I even made Eagle Scout. Now I wouldn’t so much as by a $1.00 candy bar from them. When I was cleaning out some of my stuff from my moms house I found my Eagle award and sent it back to BSA with a note telling them that I would no longer be associated with such a hate group and feel sad for them, never got a response from them, surprise. Its always the kids that suffer for the adults ignorance.

      It’s not so much hypocrisy as complete and utter stupidity to the point of gross negligence. Openly gay men and women are probably the least likely group demographically to be child molesters: with some misinformed parents worried about having their children near gays, any child molester who is gay is going to be as deeply closeted as possible. So, by weeding out openly gay men, they are left with a pool of possible scout masters that are more likely to contain child molesters than the population as a whole.

      I think the reason they work so hard to keep openly gay people out, is because we would immediately report any abuse we see, and that’s the last think the BSA, Catholic church, or any religious org wants–to be exposed.

      My husband was molested while he was a scout. It took him years to work thru his feelings and would allow anyone to touch him. He was all of 11. He got away, ran to the troop leaders tent, and told what had happened to him. They didnt believe him and put him right back in the same tent, for the next 4 nights.

      I hate the BSA for what they did to my sweet husband. And I hope they burn in hell for all of eternity for what they did to an innocent child.

      I was a cub scout and a boy scout and was on the fast path to Eagle scout when I was told that pot was good for you and there was no reason not to use it. I wasn’t abused even though I would not have complained at the time, I already knew what I wanted. It was the drug instruction that made me drop out.
