A gay man is expected to stand trial early next year for hitting someone he believed was a gay basher over the head with a plate at a restaurant in Georgetown after the person allegedly rushed toward him while screaming anti-gay names. Robert Wilson, 56, a Capitol Hill resident, was charged with assault in the April 8 incident at the Bistro Francais Restaurant [in D.C.]…Police and the United States Attorney’s office, which is prosecuting the case, have said in court papers that Ted Dixon, the man Wilson struck with the plate, is the victim in the case because he sustained a head injury as a result of Wilson’s action. Sounds like a clear-cut case of self defense to me. What was he supposed to do, wait until the guy started bashing him?
Charles J. Mueller
Jebus, when did we gays lose the right to sef-protection along with all the other rights we are being stripped of?
If we cannot look to the staunch minions of the laws to protect us, who will?
It seems like everytime gays get bashed, the basher becomes the victim and uses the “gay panic” defense to get off with a rap on the knuckles by the Judge, while the victim is laid up in a hospital or maimed for life.
When was the last anyone heard of a group of gays roaming the city streets in search of a vulnerable str8 victim to beat up? Hmm?
I haven’t heard any calls for legislation tor the enactment of hate laws to protect str8 people from hate crimes perpetrated by gays, have you?
No gay people are calling for laws against heterosexuality.
No gay people are calling for criminalization of sexual acts between two consenting str8 adults.
And no one is calling for the hanging of heterosexuals for engaging in sex acts with a member of the opposite sex.
When is this fucking hatred and madness going to end?

The worst thing about this case are the comments made by Assistant U.S. Attorney Darryl Fox:
“…Assistant U.S. Attorney Darryl Fox, who is prosecuting the case, told him he was “not at all interested†in the accounts that Wilson’s friends could provide.
“He said, ‘I don’t need to talk to any more witnesses,’†Baldwin said. “He said, ‘I have a victim who was injured and I have a defendant who fled the scene.’â€
Apparently, we have to just stand there and get bashed. Is Darryl Fox one of the Bushie appointees?
Phil
First amendment rights do not extend to fighting words and hate speech. :3

Facts!?! I don’t need no stinking facts!
This guy should resign, he’s obviously not qualified to do his job if he spouts off like that. What a douche!
Charles J. Mueller
Yep yep. Sure sounds like Baldwin has already made up his mind.
The defendant is guilty as charged…before he even gets to trail.
How does this happen?
seitan-on-a-stick
At least they didn’t use the Twinkie defense. This is appalling and I may actually be in favor of building more prisons for violent homophobes. Anti-gay violence has hit epic proportions! WTF?
Mister C
Actually self defense is right!
However once something like this happens and you LEAVE the scene of the situation. The situation changes and that’s what happen in this case also to the fact that his friends had also lied in the original police report.
After bashing him all he had to do was stay and explain it to the cops and he would have been scott free.

@Mister C:
Or dead. Either way he’s golden.
