BREAKING: Barney Frank To Marry Pot-Smoking Partner, Jim Ready, In MA

NECN reports that out Congressman Barney Frank, 71, will marry his longtime boyfriend Jim Ready, 42, in a ceremony in their home state of Massachusetts. There’s no word on a date yet, but we imagine it’ll be before the end of the year—maybe in Provincetown? (We also imagine Frank will dress himself up a little better than he does on the Congressional floor.)

Frank and Ready met at a political fundraiser in Maine six years ago. Since then, Ready has kept a fairly low profile, though he has come to Barney’s defense in public forums on occasion and was arrested in 2007 for growing marijuana plants.

Now that’s a bachelor party we wanna go to.

I wonder what the reaction to this “Headline” would be if this headline would have been on Foxnews.com or The drudge report instead of here. Way to go Queerty.

What a stupid headline. Why does Queerty have to put in the part about pot smoking? You are beginning to sound like Foxnews.

This is the first time I’ve come to this site in ages – and with headlines like this, I’m quickly reminded why.

I see Queerty’s war on gay people and their relationships continues.

What’s he been waiting for? Marraige has been legal in Machachuchets since forevermore. If I lived in Machachuchets, I’d have three divorces behind me already.

It’s like discovering an adult chooses to consume stimulating coffee, or intoxicating liquors.

@the crustybastard: I know I’d need lots of pot to be able to get in bed with Barney.

@the crustybastard: Indeed!!! It is such the scandal, why perhaps, Massachusetts should have laws against it. Oh, wait, Massachusetts DOES HAVE laws about pot, decriminalizing minor possession.

I rag on Barney all the time (note to Barney lovers: he voted FOR DADT to become law before he led the effort to repeal DADT; he was against marriage-equity as a distraction of other gay and lesbian issues before he advocated for marriage), but even I thought this was pretty shabby.

I think the headline is approving of the pot-smoking. It is, after all, “a bachelor party we wanna go to.”

I had to check for a minute to make sure that I hadn’t somehow found my way onto to anti-gay blog. What’s will all of the snarky comments and the ridiculous heading? It’s no wonder your articles have so few comments (or no comments), you’re driving away readers in droves.

@Mike in Asheville: When DADT was made the law of the land it was considered, at the time, the lesser of two evils. The GOP wanted an outright BAN on gays in the military. Bill Clinton admitted that he did the best in a bad situation but, were he given the chance to do it differently, he would. That was then, this is now. Mr. Frank has done more for the LGBT community than most politicians.
