BREAKING: Illinois Senate Passes Marriage-Equality Bill

illinois

It’s probably the best Valentine’s Day gift the LGBT community could have gotten: The Illinois state Senate passed the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act today, by a margin of 34 to 21. The measure now goes to the House, which is expected to vote on it in the next few days.

@erikwm: Hey, better to have the right and not use than to try to use and not have right?

This seemingly endless process now moves onto the Illinois House where there are more Republicans who can stop the law from happening. We also have to cross our fingers and hope the Democrats don’t panic, lose their nerve and stab us in the back like the Democrats in Hawaii did this week !
