Kerry Fletcher is "over the moon" after hearing that she will receive £400,000 from England's Ministry of Defense:

A lesbian soldier stands to receive more than £400,000 in compensation from the Ministry of Defense after a tribunal ruled that she had been subjected to a campaign of sexual harassment by a male sergeant.

Lance Bombardier Kerry Fletcher, 31, had told how she was pestered for sex by the unnamed sergeant, who she claimed was a known womaniser.

Though still a full-time employee of the army, Fletcher says she'll put in her notice over the next few weeks. She's going to need time to count all that money!

Hurrah for Lance Bombardier Kerry Fletcher. Each time corporate, religious or government bigots are sued or punished for abuse or discrimination it's a victory for GLBT folk and our allies - women, minorities, immigrants, trade unionists, etc. The harsher the punishment the better the result because it sends a signal that such behavior is unacceptable.
