Dead-eyed and wobbly, 25-year old Britney Spears took to the VMA stage last night for a “come back”. Unfortunately, the former pop-star didn’t seem to bring anything – period. Though somewhat catchy, Spears’ single, “Gimme More” got lost in the absolute atrociousness of, well, nearly everything about the performance. For those of you cheering Spears on, you should have saved your breath.

While I’m not quite as vitriolic or hateful as some out there, I do think that if she intended this to be the big relaunch of her career, she should have put a little more effort into it.
She didn’t seem to know any of the dance moves or the words she was lip-syncing to, and seems to have lost all her confidence on stage. But considering the appalling things some people are saying about her, that’s not surprising.

As for Rihanna’s performance, well, Rihanna has a career. In the world of the biz we call show, the VMA’s don’t mean a whole lot. So, when Rihanna takes time out of touring, making her next album, pretending she’s an actress, etc, and phones in a performance, no one bats an eye. Sure, some would say that as a professional, she needs to give it her all. She gets cut some slack though.
Britney, on the other hand, has done nothing but sail head first into a downward spiral ever since she got married. It hasn’t been cute. So, she takes time out of her busy cheeto eating and designer dress ruining schedule to phone in an uber hyped, COMEBACK performance? That has no excuse. She has the time, she has the money. She also seems to not have the drive to truly make a go of it. I feel sorry for her, but at the same time, she did this to herself.

Totally…she couldn’t even stay sober long enough to do a 4 minute routine last night…bitch is a goner. And those who say her routine was no worse than Rihanna’s…uh, youtube the vid and watch it again. Britney, unlike Rihanna, was wasted off her ass. She couldn’t remember her moves…hell, she could barely move. Her dancer’s were leading her around when she shoulda been leading them around. It was like watching a stripper high on X who’s in her own little world and forgets her moves (I’ve seen some of those up in Revere near where I live…don’t ask).

I’ve seen Rihanna lip-synch her routines and count out her dance-steps on other shows, and I agree that she really, really sucks on stage. I like her album, but she’ll be another forgotten R&B singer in a few years. Britney, now, is a train-wreck we can’t take our eyes off of. I thought people on her level had managers paid to make them look good.

I just saw a clip of the show with audience reaction on “Inside Edition” and Rihanna was laughing at Britney…just looking around and laughing. Wow…even I have to say that’s kinda tacky. And poor 50 Cent looked scared or confused during Britney’s performance.

Britney has always been TALENTLESS, and her fans (circuit queens and young girls) ate her crap up unquestioned. Last night she proved (once again) she’s nothing without a team pulling her strings for her. I sooo enjoyed her make a fool of herself to her peers, and the world at large. She’s a fool, and so are the grown ass men over the age of 21 into her.

I think you guys are underestimating the amount of coke/oxycontin etc someone has to do at one time to die. As long as those girls stay away from crack and heroin they should at least be alive for a good long while… well, hopefully at least :S
