Actually, the movie “Otto: Or, Up With Dead People” showed that Bruce LaBruce actually knows how to make movies. I don’t know, maybe someone slipped him some sedatives or something. Otto has to go down in history as the moment that Bruce LaBruce officially became the mainsteam’s replacement Homo for John Waters.
Personally, I see LA Zombie as one last attempt by Bruce LaBruce to establish his Brand as “Out There” when, with Otto, he is basically not so much other there anymore.
Essentially, I see GrandMa Madonna inviting GrandPA Bruce LaBruce over for tea and her showing him her bootleg copy of the Vatican’s porn library.

LOL @ criticizing BLB using a Robbie Williams quote.
·
Allen* Ginsberg, not Allan. Come on, Queerty.
And Bruce kicks ass. The Raspberry Reich was awesome.
·
I just want to say That I would love to work with Bruce LaBruce, makes me want to move to Toronto.
·
Oh god – wake up people! James’ fascination with playing gay is because he is! He’s living in a glass closet for christsakes!
·
People like Bruce LaBruce give me hope for gay humanity.
·
And you are exactly why Mr. LaBruce and a whole lot of other people (myself included) try to avoid comments sections. A whole lot of judgmental homosexuals putting other people down to validate themselves. Why oh why did I think I needed to read what others had to say about this article.

re James Franco being in the closet: is that just based on his many gay roles? Philip Seymour Hoffmann has played loads of gay characters and afaik he’s happily married (famous last words, I know – but he genuinely strikes me as being, well, happily married to one of your actual womenfolk).
Granted, Franco has done loads of other queer stuff, like that college art video thing and now these recent things, plus the drag, etc… but I don’t know. Wish he was gay, though. Hope he is. :D

James Franco is clearly either bisexual or gay and it’s obvious.
·
@Drew: Has he ever been linked with a serious girlfriend? I only ask as I’m not aware that he has, but then I never really checked before. I’ve read a few comments on here over the years basically saying he’s skanky and “they” wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot bargepole, but he was sex on legs in “Milk” and I do think he has *something* alluring about him.
If he is gay or bisexual, then I think “glass closet” doesn’t apply so much here – yes, if he is, then he’s never publicly come out, obvs – so there’s a closet there of sorts, but given that he’s done so much gay or homoerotic work – unlike pretty much EVERYONE else in the so-called glass closet, I think he’s interesting in that respect whatever.
I’m still not convinced he’s gay at all tbh. My opinion, is that he does all this for added acting kudos or “edge”.
But who cares, I’ve no stake in knowing his orientation and he’s clearly not homophobic, so good luck to him…

Meh I think he’s an untalented hack, personally. He substitutes shock for art and fails even then. His is the laziest type of film making, but people seem to love it. I think because they want to seem edgy or somehow on the inside of the outside. He strikes me as the type to make a film on his iPhone. Just lazy. To quote one Mr. Robbie Williams: “she’s got to be obscene to be believed.”
