Bulgarian Bishop Nikolay Rewarding Officials With Anti-Gay Medals of Honor

s

Maybe Stephanie Rice can swap one of her gold medals for one of the trophies being handed out by Bishop Nikolay, an Orthodox Christian pastor in Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second-largest city. Already Todor Popov (mayor of Pazarzhik) and Stefan Yanev (the city’s prosecutor) have received honors for “standing up for Christian values, defending Orthodox Christian morality and spirituality, the sanctity of marriage, family, and statehood” after showing their support for a city ordinance that banned the public display of one’s sexuality. And if you take a public stand against abortion, you’ll win a stuffed panda!

these guys are getting funnier by the minute. You know the law that passed actually states that it is forbidden to showcase sexual or any other orientation in public. Define any other orientation – compasses?

So if they ban “public display of one’s sexuality” does that mean that straights must act gay and vice versa?????

PS: I am concerned for that little boy……………

Bulgarians are animals. I’ve never been to a place more brutal and judgemental than there. It’s like the middle-ages just kept going, there is no socially approved method for things like “dialogue” and “social mores” that doesn’t involve a highly corrupt, deeply ignorant intermediary, whether it be a cab driver, a priest, a store clerk, anyone really. These aren’t really people, much. Just animals. “Is my money OK? Can I eat today in your food stall? Can I eat at all?” Ugh, never again. Hated it. If that floats your boat, gay folks from the west, try Romania. That ought to get you going too.

What really gets to me isn’t that there are raving idiots who hate us – not that I like them, but I just know they’re an unavoidable blight – but that the EU should either really step in hard, or kick countries out that abuse human rights.

How the fuck did Eastern Europe, which was for fifty years the bastion of atheism, turn into such a religious hell hole?
