‘CA Supreme Court upholds Prop8 but works deal with KFC to use old marriage licenses as coupon for free chicken’

Other LOL Twitters via GayRainArmy:

• Clerk to CA Supreme CT says Prop8 ruling will be sung by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir…oh, this is not good

• More leakage from CASC #Prop8 ruling–opinion begins with: “Even Barack Obama thinks….” oh shit

• Portion of Prop8 decision leaked, reads: “Ken Starr is such a douche.”

• CA Supreme Ct ruling on Prop8 to be announced by Elvis in Dallas on the grassy-knoll on Thursday

Gee, I have several copies of my CA marriage license. Maybe I will get a free bucket of chicken with 3 free sides?!

What the fuck is this post about? I’m confused. Did the supreme court uphold prop 8, and what does KFC have to do with it? Can someone please clarify?

reality check guys: propH8 is likely to be upheld. very likely indeed. we need to get over it and work our asses off for its repeal, next year or in 2012. or in 2014. whatever. it will happen.

in the meantime, i don’t know many other coping mechanisms that are as or more efficient than humor…

I think the court will look for every reason they possibly can to strike it down but I don’t think they will be able to come up with one. Anyway, at least my California license will be good for a chicken wing or leg. Somehow knowing that does ease the pain! Thanks KFC!

Since they are ruling earlier then required this suggests more then a 4-3 ruling, I think a minimum of 5 justices are in agreement but as to what that agreement may be I don’t want to speculate.

I suggest bringing a prop for next voting to change the titles of justices voting to uphold prop H8 to “douche #” and add the number according to who writes an opinion, who writes a concurrence, and then in order of seniority on the Court. All the justices voting to reject prop H8 shall be known just like before Justice + last name.

      @mb00:

This is humor, practically satire. It’s not only making fun of all the people who have previously jumped the gun last week on Prop 8, but it’s also a reflection of how some facets of our society look at same-sex marriage, like it never held any weight and is entirely unimportant.

Think Onion meets Daily Show meets Colbert Report meets…

Basically, it’s supposed to be funny. And it is… VERY funny. I don’t even know why I’m explaining it. Bottom line, this may very well be one of many defeats we experience as concerned gay citizens and activists, and if we didn’t laugh about it, we’d be useless when it came to fighting it.

here’s a clue (i’m gonna let you all in on a little secret): if something doesn’t make sense to you… it’s probably humorous and it’s probably over your head. i’m not saying all the time, i’m just saying statistically speaking you’re a moron.

don’t get upset. stop… take a breather. think to yourself: “is there another way of looking at it other than my extremely limited and narrow minded point of view?”

if you can’t come up with anything – you’re too serious. i would suggest that you take the stick out of your ass, but you will die of a heart attack soon enough so natural selection will take care of the problem. if you can come up with something, congratulations! you are thinking out of the box… great to have you as a fellow human being!

(also, if you don’t get something right away… you don’t have to comment on it right away. walk away from the computer and come back later and look at other people’s comments. then maybe the little hamster spinning in your head can deduce the nature/direction of the post…. just FYI.)

Prop 8 will be upheld. Just have your buckets of kerosene ready, and know where the local mormon and baptist churches are.

@daftpunkydavid: Sadly I think you are right, and, the fight has to begin to get it back on the ballot next year, and, its going to take a massive grassroots effort to reach out to the communities that voted for it to get the reason why it is wrong to enshrine hate into law. And, its going to have to be outside of the major cities, places like Fresno and the Central Valley, where the conservatism is still as strong as anywhere in the deep South.

The supreme court will likely uphold Prop 8 but we really don’t know. There are only three possible announcement dates May 26 May 28th or June 1st we will know soon and then we can gear up for the next election where it will likely go back to ballot either way.
