Gay and straight labor leaders and union members attended and spoke at rallies, raised over 1.2 million dollars (which the Obamadolators at No on 8 wasted, along with everyone elses money) passed out leaflets and door knob hangers, sent mass mailings and did callilng.

We must be willing to build the good will that pays it forward to our next struggle. There are several bills coming up that can affect the American worker. I am hoping to see the Human Rights Campaign and other gay organizations put their full weight behind , for example, the Employee Free Choice Act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Employee_Free_Choice_Act). If we were to give a strong and visible public showing, how much goodwill would we build amongst the union rank and file? How much would that help gays in the battles that we face in the future? Solidarity means we either swim together or sink separately. The lesson here is that we must not only be thankful for their support, but in turn be ready to support labor. Prop 8 creates such a dangerous precedent simply because it overturns what has been found as a "fundenmental right" for a "suspect class" (us) -- and that finding isn't changed by Prop 8 -- by a simple (pun intended) 50.1% majority. It can now happen to any group in the state and Prop 8 can be sited as justification -- chaos! They can't let that stand. It has to be held to the 66.7% majority standard at least. There isn't any need to look out into the federal constitution for equal protection, and the bigots and friend of the court briefs, that support prop 8 will also be submitted from power hungry, controlling groups that don't live in California. Why aren't the homophobic, obsessed bigots, happy with the destruction that they've caused in their uninteresting home states? They need to keep their poison out of California! This is our turf, and open to anyone who values inclusiveness and equality! I believe that the court hates the idea of over turning the will of the people.
