Cameroon Queer To Be Deported?

Uh-oh! Iranian gay Mehdi Kazemi ain’t the only gay fighting for his life. Switzerland may soon deport a Cameroonian national, Anatole Zali, who fled his homeland after receiving death threats. Swiss authorities didn’t find enough grounds to keep Zali, whose personal appeals have been struck down. That whole neutrality thing cuts both ways, huh? [Pink News]

*pulls hair out* WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? Is the real problem that they don’t want immigrants, queers, immigrants of color, queer immigrants, or all of the above?

Does anyone know if Anatole Zali is under a threat from Cameroon itself, like Iran, or were they personally directed threats? Neither is right, but I can see how it’s politically easier to grant asylum to someone threatened by the state than someone threatened by their intolerant community.

In Cameroon, you will get imprisoned up to 5 years for homosexuality. Anatole said, there was a arrest warrant, that’s why he escaped to Switzerland.
After petitions from Amnesty International sent to the migration office, they reexamined the case. Anatole Zali was released out of the airport prison and was able to await the new decision of the migration office.
