Camille Paglia: I’m Addicted To “The Real Housewives of New Jersey”

Whoever is doing the photography and editing for Real Housewives of New Jersey and also for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Real Housewives of Orange County — this is absolutely cutting edge. I can watch the same episode — while I’m cooking and eating dinner – five, six, or seven times. I savor how visually interesting they are — how long each shot lasts and how much information it contains. This is intelligent and sophisticated documentary filmmaking that really needs to be honored.

The early episodes of that series were bland and dull, even amateurish. Through trial and error, they eventually found a technical groove. It’s not just the sensational drama. As a soap opera fan, I’ve been in the depths of gloom for over 20 years as TV soaps declined… I don’t like reality shows and have never watched them, but I’m addicted to Real Housewives because it’s authentic old-time soap opera reborn!”

Yea and she is probably addicted to crack as well. The only thing real about those women is oh wait THERE IS NOTHING real about those women. Except that they give a whole new definition to stupid, ugly and ridiculous.

I wonder how she feels knowing that she lived long enough to watch herself become irrelevant.

Yeah. “Real Housewives of New Jersey” is what I’d expect someone with Camile Paglia’s intellectual level to like.

@Dumdum: have you ever heard her talk? She speaks at double speed and all over the place, either crack or she’s manic.

That and she is another of these asshats who like to show everyone how smart she is or thinks she is.

Note to Dan Avery / Queerty.

Camille Paglia identifies as Bisexual, not Lesbian.

She is actually quite infamous among queer women for how she expressed herself when she stopped identifying (most definitely) as lesbian and started identifying as bisexual. And this was like about twenty+ years ago now!

Camille Paglia going to bat for Basic Instinct and even recording a commentary for the DVD makes her a stone-cold awesome motherfucker as far as I’m concerned.
