Can We Sneak Around Texas’ Requirement That Colleges Spend Equality On LGBTs + ‘Traditional Values’?

If Texas’ public universities are going to spend taxpayer dollars on pet projects like LGBT resource centers, then they must spend the same amount of money promoting “traditional and family values.” That’s according to an amendment to the state budget bill the Texas House just passed where Republicans outnumber Democrats 2:1; the amendment, proposed by Rep. Wayne Christian, passed 110-24. But fret not! This just means we have to get a jump on defining what “traditional and family values” means. Because in my family, it was traditional to value our neighbors and strangers as equal, contributing members of society. See how easy that was?
