How in the hell did Canadian schools manage to get thousands of grade school kids across the country to wear pink shirts on the same day?
The tradition is actually three years old now, and started when a ninth grade boy was bullied for wearing pink. A couple of supportive classmates went out and bought their own pink shirts, the news spread, and now there’s Day of Pink, which went down yesterday in Toronto, British Columbia, and other Canadian towns we’ve never heard of. Even the teachers get involved!
Try this in America, and Focus On The Family would have your heads.

That is so awesome. I wish we could be more like Canada.

Loved that this was noticed. Please be aware that Toronto is a city in Ontario and British Columbia is a province.

It wasn’t just grade school. It was high school as well.

Another reason to love Canadians…

It never fails to amaze me the depth of ignorance there is towards other nations let alone for the one that shares the world’s largest unprotected borderwith the U.S… fingers crossed that the boys at Queerty do realize that BC is a province and not a city.. Vancouver is a city within British Columbia 🙂 ps staff in my office wore Pink shirts yesterday as well it’s not just in schools ..it’s businesses as well cheers !!

“yesterday in Toronto, British Columbia, and other Canadian towns we’ve never heard of.”
I’m not sure if I’m reading this the way you meant it, but if I am, then actually you’ve never heard of “Toronto, British Columbia” either. The city of Toronto (~2.5 million people) is in the province of Ontario, which is a couple time-zones east of the province of British Columbia (whose biggest city is Vancouver weighing in at 2.1 million in its locality).
