Johnny Depp has said he wants to play me in a movie. Wouldn’t that be great? People say, ‘But he is a man,’ but it doesn’t surprise me at all. I can’t remember the last time one of my impersonators didn’t have a 5 o’clock shadow.”
— Legendary entertainer Carol Channing in an interview with Out‘s Michael Musto to promote her Fire Island concert next month

Such a classy lady, simply put!

That woman is fabulous. Seriously. Fabulous.

A legend. She will probably outlive us all.

I’m trying to decide who is more secure. Leading man Johnny Depp for wanting to play Carol Channing in a movie, or the one and only Carol Channing for thinking that’s a great idea.

Love her, and she’s a sista too. But please, Johnny Depp, no thank you. Go away. Please.

The last few Tim Burton movies have turned me off Johnny Depp and HBC. I used to consider their presence in a movie a plus, now I’m more likely to skip it.

I don’t hate her and yes she’s a legend. But I’m surprised by all the love and admiration , considereding she’s a born again who is against homosexuality and who gave anti-gay statements.

Carol Channing is a NATIONAL TREASURE and anyone who disagrees is invited to kindly renounce their citizenship.

@Tackle: She and her publicist emphatically denied those anti-gay statements as misquotes and half-quotes. Do some googling, its not hard to find. Also, she’s been a part of many Gay Pride events.

@singforfood: a star and their publicist emphatically dening statements unpopular, unkind, mean spirted or just plain foolish that can affect the stars career in a negative way is the oldest trick in the book. And if I were a manager and if gays were my core audience, you’re damn right that I send them to as many gay functions as I can. What better way to stay relevant. But all that being said, I hope you are right. I hope Miss Channing was misquoted. I just cannot bring myself to dislike such a grand lady.
