AFA Still Attacking “Gay” McD’s
Oh, lord! The American “Family” Association refuses to give up their “good” fight against McDonald’s. The anti-gay non-profit began ramping up efforts last May, when they blasted the fast food chain’s commitment to queer causes, like their sponsorship of pride parades. Not ones to be bullied, McDonald’s executives refuses to back down, which has since spurred the AFA to up the ante a bit. Realizing that their members aren’t the most intellectually evolved, the AFA has spelled out their beef with the beloved American restaurant: What the boycott of McDonald’s IS NOT about |

AFA Asks McCain For More Gay Opposition
Despite the fact that John McCain shouldn’t talk about gay marriage - and has repeatedly said the matter should be left to the states - the American Family Association recently implored its members to send the Republican candidate this hysterical message: Sen. McCain, I ask that you make passing a federal marriage amendment a top priority in your campaign. The family is the central unit in society. I cannot express to you the importance of this matter. I will be waiting to see how you respond to this threat to the family. We wonder why they didn’t send this note to the Democrats? They’re on the exact same page as McCain when it comes … Continued… 6 Responses» |

AFA Launches Fresh McD Attack
Social conservatives are upping the ante in their war against McDonald’s, the restaurant that no doubt raised them. People like the American Family Association are absolutely seeing red over the fast food chain’s National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. McDonald’s apparently attempted to quell their rage, but only ended up making them more mad, according to an AFA Action Alert… |

OK Paper: “Kern Not Okay.”
Social conservatives will shower Sally Kern with praise today, but the anti-gay lawmaker has no friends on The Oklahoman’s editorial team. Kern’s main focus in the Legislature has been on anti-gay initiatives, such as trying to determine where libraries should place books with homosexual themes. “God’s Word does not change. … Therefore, my opinion also will not change,” she said last week. Kern will be shown a little love today when the American Family Association holds a rally in her support at the Capitol. Perhaps constituents ought to hold a rally of their own, urging this one-trick pony to put her tiresome personal agenda aside and work to do something constructive. We have … Continued… 7 Responses» |
AFA’s Outdated ‘Family’ Hurts America
We really, truly don’t understand the American Family Association. And we have a feeling they don’t, either! |

Roll Over.
The AFA’s overinflated ego takes another hit this morning. The right wing group took credit for Ford’s scaled back gay ad scheme. Ford spokesman Jim Cain further distances his company from the group, saying, “I can tell you there was not a negotiated settlement to [the AFA’s] boycott.” [Mixed Media] Respond» |
Dumb.
Politics trumps excellence for the American Family Association. The right wingers are asking concerned parents to keep their kids hope on April 25, the National Day of Silence, which combats homophobia in school. [Joe.My.God] 4 Responses» |

AFA Warns Of Homo Invasion
The American Family Association takes sexual panic to cinematic heights with their new video, They’re Coming To Your Town. Says the right wing non-profit: Residents of the small Arkansas town of Eureka Springs noticed the homosexual community was growing. But they felt no threat. They went about their business as usual. Then, one day, they woke up to discover that their beloved Eureka Springs, a community which was known far and wide as a center for Christian entertainment–had changed. The City Council had been taken over by a small group of homosexual activists. The Eureka Springs they knew is gone. It is now a national hub for homosexuals. … Continued… 18 Responses» |

Homophobes Say The Darndest Things!
Indiana’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles recently agreed not to “red-flag” people whose gender doesn’t match their driver’s license. That’s reasonable: why should someone be suspected simply because they’re a different gender? Simple, yes? Not to American Family Association of Indiana member Micah Clark. Through Clark’s imbecilic “logic”, an innocuous decision to end trans stigmatization becomes a terrorist win. Here’s but a small taste: In a day of rampant identity theft and a war with terrorists, the Indiana BMV believes that not offending a person who is a cross-dresser or someone who has had a sex change overrides any security risk that could happen through a gender and SSI number mismatch. It gets twice as bad and three times as offensive, after the jump… |

AFA Takes On Ford Ad Adjacent To Tom Ford In ‘Out’
The American Family Association has some bald-eagle eyes! We never would have noticed the Volvo C-30’s well-placed ad next to Tom Ford’s Out-sponsored tush! |

Anti-Gay AFA Takes Credit For Ford Plunge
The American Family Association thinks it’s omnipotent. The anti-gay “family” values group takes credit for Ford Motors’ shocking 21% sales plunge. In a delightful action alert, the AFA declares itself a winner: Ford Motor Company sales dropped 21% in September compared to that month’s sales a year ago. Ford sales have dropped in 17 of the 19 months since AFA began a boycott of the company. AFA began boycotting Ford in March 2006 when the company reneged on a pledge to stop supporting homosexual organizations and same-sex marriage. While not totally responsible for the decline in sales, the boycott is having an impact. |

Help People Who Are Working To Stop Hate Crimes
The American “Family” Association may be against hate crime legislation, but you can bet your bottom dollar Human Rights Campaign’s all about it. The “largest” LGBT non-profit’s asking you and yours to support the Matthew Shephard Act by signing this letter. It’s really quite painless. Way, way painless than a hate crime, that’s for sure. We’ve pasted the text of the letter after the jump. Also, we’d like to point out that HRC allows you to edit your letter. The AFA - who fear hate crime legislation will curtail their freedom - don’t allow the freedom of using your own words. Just a note. |

AFA, Allies Still Don’t Understand “Hate Crimes”
The American “Family” Association’s all sorts of angry over a recent Oakland, California, “hate crime” case. A group of black Christian women are facing the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals after distributing a “pro-family” pamphlet for their group, Good News Employee Association. The pamphlet in question described the GNEA as “a forum for people of Faith to express their views on the contemporary issues of the day. With respect for the Natural Family, Marriage and Family Values”. The women’s coworkers balked at the language and insisted the cease and desist distribution of the flyer. The women, however, insist they were simply responding to some of their more gay-friendly friends. Oakland government officials, however, claim they were helping perpetuate discrimination. Now, both sides are in court duking it out. Not surprising, AFA and their conservative allies are stirring the shit. |
