A mere 39 years into a dramatic life, Anna Nicole Smith has died. CNN reports:

Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital, a law enforcement source told CNN.

Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel, according to news reports.

"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Smith's attorney, Ronald Rale, told Reuters. "I don't know anything further. [Her lawyer and husband] Howard [K. Stern], obviously, is speechless and grieving."

Smith's nurse called Seminole Hard Rock Hotel workers at 1:38 p.m. and security went to the room, hotel officials told Reuters. Fire rescue workers arrived within minutes, and Smith was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood at 2:10 p.m

We're sincerely sorry to hear about this - no, really, we mean that. In some bizarre way, Anna Nicole was America's Diana. Only on pills…

This story first hit the world wide web (we almost forgot what www stood for, to be honest) yesterday, but we're only just now crawling from a booze-induced haze, so forgive us if you've heard about Anna Nicole's marriage to lawyer/friend/baby daddy Howard Stern.

In case you haven't been keeping up, it's been a tumultuous few weeks for Anna Nicole: first she pops out a kid, then her other kid drops dead, then two men claim to be the father of her baby, and now she's married.

Boy, are we happy we watched Larry King Live last night. Yes, we saw the Clay Aiken interview, but we're going to hold off on that for a second to discuss the new twists and turns in the Anna Nicole drama.

First, the pathologist, Cyril Wecht, finally released his findings on young Daniel's body. It appears the cause of death was a mixture of methadone, Zoloft, and Lexapro. While chatting with Larry King, Wecht made it seem as if the meds had been prescribed as anti-depressants.

Sure, we know that Zoloft and Lexapro are prescribed to combat depression and anxiety, but we've never heard of methadone falling into that category. From our understanding, people taking methadone are usually trying to kick heroin or morphine addictions. Yet, there's no evidence that Daniel had been through the pits of addiction. Why was the kid on methadone? Is it possible he was mixing it with anti-depressants to get high? We don't know, but it's all very intriguing.

The second twist in this whole sordid story is that two men claim to be the father of Anna Nicole's new daughter. Howard Stern, her long-time lawyer and friend, insists that he's the baby daddy, while photographer Larry Birkhead maintains Smith told him he's the papa. Now, Birkhead's demanding a DNA test.

This entire scene defies reality, doesn't it? It's almost as if Anna Nicole Smith's a real life Erica Kane from All My Children, or something.

We picked the story up from our gossip-obsessed siblings over at Jossip. As you may have heard, America's semi-sweetheart, Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to a baby girl a few days ago. Her son, Daniel, who was featured prominently on her reality show, went to pay her a visit in her hospital room only to drop dead of undeclared causes.

Anna gets a lot of flack from people, but we've always cheered her on - however silently - but if ever there were a time to support the girl, it's now. Shame a blessing like a baby has to be sullied by the death of a young buck. And, yes, we mean that.
