Conservative new site One News Now took a few liberties with the Associated Press' article on Hallmark's gay marriage cards.

As you can see, ONN added a few contentious quotation marks to the term "marriage," and, as if that's not queer enough, replaces the word "same-sex" with homosexual. They do, however, refer to "same-sex civil unions." So, the H-word, long a panic button for the right, is linked to marriage - warning! - while "same-sex" nestles safely next to civil unions, far removed from "tradition."

A CNN reporter got caught up in a similar "nuptial" situation, but corrected his or her mistake. We doubt ONN, which is owned by the Bible-thumping American Family News Network, will do that same. (See screen shots below.)

Take this AP lede: “The Republican National Committee demanded Monday that television networks stop running a television ad by the Democratic Party that falsely suggests John McCain wants a 100-year war in Iraq.”

Notice anything wrong with it? How about the little fact that they incorporated McCain’s spin into the factual portion of that statement?

The Associated Press wants to be prepared for Britney Spears' seemingly imminent death. From Us:

“We are not wishing it, but if Britney passed away, it’s easily one of the biggest stories in a long time,” AP entertainment editor Jesse Washington tells Us.

“I think one would agree that Britney seems at risk right now,” Washington adds. “Of course, we would never wish any type of misfortune on anybody and hope that we would never have to use it until 50 years from now…but if something were to happen, we would have to be prepared.”

We were actually just talking about how we should have a Spears obit on deck. Isn't that sad?
