Television marked a new milestone last night as Brothers & Sisters‘ homo brother Kevin “committed” himself to his main squeeze, Scotty: the first time main characters have tied the knot on network television.

Here’s footage from the blessed event, which went off without a hitch. But, in true soap fashion, there was a bit of drama: poor Scotty’s religious parents don’t approve and refuse to attend, which will reportedly cause further problems next season.

Something to look forward to, no?

The media watchdogs over at GLAAD are tickled pink about ABC soap Brothers & Sisters‘ forthcoming gay wedding: “We applaud ABC for highlighting Kevin and Scotty’s declaration of commitment to each other in the presence of their family and friends. Kevin and Scotty’s ceremony reflects the ongoing commitment of Brothers & Sisters and ABC to making visible the multi-dimensional lives of gay characters.” [Contact Music]

As we already know, the gay boys on Brothers & Sisters are going to make honest men of one another.

Here’s the nauseating sweet proposal scene we’ve all been waiting for - or, rather, those of us who watch the show. And, yes, we watch the show, which surprises us, too.

Gay Brothers & Sisters creator Jon Robin Baitz has been “ousted” from his hit ABC show. Writes Baitz: I have left the show I created, Brothers & Sisters, from which I was ousted, not fired, an important distinction, to set the whisperers down the lane straight, so to speak.
