Today’s Indiana and North Carolina primary votes haven’t yet been totally tallied, but Hillary Clinton’s already looking toward Oregon, which holds its vote on May 20.

The Senator recently released a new ad - included after the jump - urging Oregonians to vote for her education, Iraq and, for hippies, environmental policies. She will also visit that state later this week. (Obama’s also planning a visit in the near future.)

Also, rumor has it that Chelsea Clinton - who popped into Portland’s massively gay “Red Dress Party” - will head to the state to make a play for the lesbians. How appropriate. From Willamette Week: Just got word there is a very strong possibility that my new friend Chelsea Clinton is heading back to Portland for a very special appearance on Tuesday, May 13.

Chelsea will be collecting ballots alongside out and very proud recording artist Sophie B. Hawkins.

Where will they be doing all this?

Well, the Egyptian Club (aka the E-Room ) of course, Portland’s one and only lesbian bar. It’s only fitting that the former first daughter hit the lesbians - Oregon is, after all, the Beaver State.

Chelsea Clinton’s not the only political person courting the gays.

Fearing a loss in his city’s forthcoming election, London mayor Ken Livingstone took a jaunt around the gay ghettos to spread some good will - and get good press. We’re not sure it worked…

“Chelsea, the gays love you!” So proclaimed one of the many homos who saw Chelsea Clinton during her gay bar crawl in Philadelphia.

This weekend’s tour of queer duty ain’t the first time Clinton has paid her lavender respects. Just last weekend she made an appearance at an Oregon’s Red Dress event, which raises money to fight HIV/AIDS.

The Philadelphia appearance only cements the young Clinton’s ties with the gays. She stopped by four bars in total and saw an estimated 1,500 queer voters, all of whom seemed excited to see and seen with her.

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton took some time off the campaign trail this weekend to hang with Oregonian homos. Clinton and about 2,000 of her closest queers donned their reddest, gayest apparel for the Red Dress party, a drag event that raises money to help fight HIV/AIDS.

Chelsea doesn’t appear to be wearing a dress - a party requirement - but she did spend a few hours getting to know the boys before bouncing off to Philadelphia.

Don’t fuck with Chelsea Clinton! The 28-year old got feisty when a Butler University student asked whether Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky hurt her mother’s credibility, particularly when Hillary defended her husband against a “right wing conspiracy,” which turned out to be Lewinsky’s lips.

Chelsea was not impressed by the off-color, meaningless question: “Wow, you’re the first person actually that’s ever asked me that question in the, I don’t know maybe, 70 college campuses I’ve now been to, and I do not think that is any of your business.”

If our eyes serve right, it looks like MSNBC journo David Shuster, who was ridiculously suspended for that Chelsea Clinton “pimped out” remark, popped up on Hardball’s five o’clock showing. Just this morning it seemed unclear when Shuster would return, but It seems producers wanted him to talk about how the NY Times has come under fire for the McCain story. Fitting…

Chelsea Clinton’s non-whorish campaigning took her to Texas last week, where journo Daniel A. Kusner found himself underwhelmed by the former first daughter’s “soft” gay talk. My question came next: “I noticed during the gay rights question, you kept using the word ‘civil’ throughout your answer. Why can’t your mother stoop low enough to grant full, equal marriage rights for same-sex couples? Or is the word ‘marriage’ too sacred for the Clintons?”

“Civil unions is what my mother has supported for as long as I can remember. I’m 27, ” Chelsea said.

“But the word ‘marriage’ is off the table, right?” I asked.

“Well, sir … She’s always supported civil unions,” Chelsea said.

MSNBC has suspended David Shuster for pondering whether or not Chelsea Clinton had been “pimped out” by mother Hillary’s campaign.

Despite the fact that he’s already apologized for the remark - which we find completely reasonable, although the phrasing may have been wrong - MSNBC says that he will again offer his apologies and then be off the air for an indefinite amount of time.

We imagine their reaction has to do with the Clinton camp intimating they would boycott MSNBC debates, but that’s total conjecture on our parts.

Iowa’s absolutely abuzz with caucus activity today. As politically motivated citizens prepare to choose their leaders, HRC’s Rachel Balick and Charlie Mumford are blogging all about it - and they’re not alone in their adventures. The duo joined forces with One Iowa activist James Taylor and proceeded to stalk the Clinton family: Charlie and I were determined to get a picture of Bill holding our HRC/One Iowa t-shirt, and we fought hard through the dense crowd to get to him.
