This must be a proud moment for the Republican party: gay porn starturned GOP demigod Matt Sanchez talking with gay escort turned White House press puppy and author Jeff Gannon about shady Hillary Clinton.

Watch as Gannon wonders about where Hillary Clinton got the $5 million to loan her campaign. Old chrome dome Gannon also asks why the press glossed over Mrs. Clinton's contribution, while everyone picked apart Mitt Romney's $35 million.

Now, we know these guys have trouble with moral relativity, but we never suspected elementary economics would throw them off. Nor have they been looking for the Clinton critiques: at least 3,851 news stories reference Clinton's loan, according to a simple Google search. Meanwhile, some of those articles question where she got the money.

We agree with President Bush, but not with his grammar: "And you know, these accusations that Bill Clinton is a racist I think is just wrong. I just don't agree with it." Bush also took some time this weekend to reassure Republicans that leading presidential contender John McCain is, in fact, a true conservative. [NY Times]

Over the weekend we introduced you to pink professor Kwame Anthony Appiah.

Click here to read part one of Appiah's exchange with our editor. Today's conclusion picks up where Saturday's installment left off.

In today's piece Appiah offers some more tips on how to be a cosmopolitan, chats about gay marriage, why Obama's a better candidate than Clinton and tells us why he doesn't give two hoots about the Anglican's ongoing gay debate.

» Hillary Talks Gay

Hillary Clinton sat down with The Washington Blade's Kevin Naff this weekend to reiterate her strong support of gay rights. The former First Lady again said she supports civil unions, repealing DADT and eradicating parts of the Defense of Marriage Act, which, she says, helps protect state constitutions from exclusive marital definitions. Clinton also took issue with competitor Barack Obama supporters touting his recent gay mentions. Says Clinton, I find it ironic since Sen. Obama had his gospel tour with [Donnie] McClurkin that he and his supporters would take credit for that.” McClurkin, of course, has an anti-gay past and his inclusion caused a major scandal last last year. MSNBC has suspended David Shuster for pondering whether or not Chelsea Clinton had been "pimped out" by mother Hillary's campaign.

Despite the fact that he's already apologized for the remark - which we find completely reasonable, although the phrasing may have been wrong - MSNBC says that he will again offer his apologies and then be off the air for an indefinite amount of time.

We imagine their reaction has to do with the Clinton camp intimating they would boycott MSNBC debates, but that's total conjecture on our parts.

Read the MSNBC statement after the jump…

» Bush: Both Candidates Are Conservative

George W. Bush attempted to assuage Republican concerns about their potential presidential candidates. Speaking at the CPAC conference yesterday, the President told attendees that their candidates are dedicated to the conservative cause: "We have had good debates and soon we will have a nominee who will carry a conservative banner into this election and beyond. The stakes in November are high…Prosperity and peace are in the balance. So with confidence in our vision and faith in our values, let us go forward, fight for victory and keep the White House in 2008." Keep hope alive, Georgie! [WaPo]

Republican presidential candidate John McCain received a cold reception at yesterday's Conservative Political Action Conference. Speaking a few hours after Mitt Romney dropped out of the race, the crowd of right wingers offered some very vocal opposition to the Senator from Arizona.

What sounds like boos may be a Republican death rattle. And that rattle only grew louder this morning.

There are some murmurs that Republican Mitt Romney will drop out of the presidential race today. Time's Mark Halperin claims Romney will accept defeat during his speech, which happens to come right before John McCain's.

Update: It's official! Mormon and homophone Mitt Romney dropped out the race today. Here's a bit of his speech:

I must now stand aside, for our party and our country… If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

This is not an easy decision for me. I hate to lose. My family, my friends and our supporters… many of you right here in this room… have given a great deal to get me where I have a shot at becoming President. If this were only about me, I would go on. But I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America.

Apparently America doesn't love Romney enough to keep him in the race. Shame…

» Obama Tops Hillary!

Most news organizations have been citing Hillary Clinton as last night's delegate leader, but it appears Barack Obama actually won that round. "The Obama camp now projects topping Clinton by 13 delegates, 847 to 834. NBC News, which is projecting delegates based on the Democratic Party's complex formula, figures Obama will wind up with 840 to 849 delegates, versus 829 to 838 for Clinton." [Politico]

» "Hey Gay, Vote For Me!" Says Clinton

Hillary Clinton really, really, really wants the gay vote tomorrow. So much so, in fact, the Senator posted an open letter on lesbianic website, OurChart, "To each and every LGBT American… I know that this country is ready for changes in the law that reflect the evolution in our hearts. America deserves a President who appeals to the best in each of us, not the worst; a President who values and respects all Americans and treats all Americans equally no matter who they are or who they love. I want to be that President. I want to be your President."

Alan Keyes gets an "A" for effort this electoral season. The legendarily wacky Republican presidential candidate very rarely makes headlines, nor does anyone seem to be voting for him, but that hasn't stop the hateful politico from voicing his archaic opinion on policy issues, like gay marriage.

» More Tears For Clinton

Hillary Clinton and her tear ducts make news once again this Monday afternoon: "Sen. Hillary Clinton teared up this morning at an event at the Yale Child Study Center, where she worked while in law school in the early 1970s. Penn Rhodeen, who was introducing Clinton, began to choke up, leading Clinton's eyes to fill with tears, which she wiped out of her left eye… "Well, I said I would not tear up; already we're not exactly on the path," Clinton said with emotion after the introduction."

Ronald Reagan remains an anathema among gay folk. Progressive Victory president and journalist Hans Johnson reminds readers that The Gipper - who the GOP still adore like a high school crush - wasn't the worst Republican when it came to gay politics.

Johnson's argument revolves around Reagan's 1978 letter condemning the Briggs Initiative, which would have prohibited gays from teaching in California schools and other teachers from "promoting" homosexuality, whatever that means…
