"Iris Robinson will not be rebuked by Prime Minister Gordon Brown over her comments on homosexuality, Downing Street has said. Mrs Robinson described homosexuality as an abomination in a radio interview. Downing Street said there was no constitutional role for the PM to reprimand individual MPs. It said members are 'accountable to their electorate for their own comments'." [BBC]

Ian McKellen met with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown this weekend to discuss fighting anti-gay bullying in the nation's schools. Said McKellen: "I am very pleased that he has listened to the concerns expressed by Stonewall, particularly around issues of homophobic bullying in schools, which still blights so many young people's lives." America's next president will have quite a task: boosting our international standing.

In an effort to get the ball rolling, Equality Forum asked Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton if they would help persuade British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to stay 19-year old Iranian Mehdi Kazemi's deportation.

Kazemi's been shuttled back and forth between Britain and The Netherlands as the government decides whether to send him home, where he'll likely face an execution.

Robert Mugabe and his supporters are like British school children. Both groups consider "gay" as the ultimate pejorative.

Mugabe, who rules Zimbabwe with an iron, idiotic fist, has frequently referred to British politicians as "gay gangster. Now his Bible-thumping ally, Reverend Obadiah Msindo is using the same tactics to smear Mugabe's political opponent, Morgan Tsvangirai.

Tsvangirai is a sexual partner to [Tony] Blair and [Gordon] Brown. They occasionally summon him to London to make love to him.

Tsvangirai is Blair and Brown’s girlfriend.

How often does he frequent Great Britain to be spoilt by Blair and Brown? Tsvangirai flies to London every now and then to offer himself to Brown and Blair and other homosexuals within the British Labour government.

Msindo conveniently forgot to mention his own sexual misadventures: he's been accused of raping his teenage maid. Of course, we wouldn't expect anything less from a Mugabe supporter.

Nineteen-year old Iranian national Mehdi Kazemi returns to the UK this week from the Netherlands, which denied his pleas and sent him back to Britain. British authorities don't have the best gay track record, so activists want you - yes, you! - to sign a petition to PM Gordon Brown requesting asylum for Mehdi, who faces execution if sent back to Iran. Send Matter To Europe's Leading Ministers

Gibraltar's gay sex debate continues.

Activists in the British territory have taken the government - and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown - to Europe highest human rights committee.

[Activist] Felix Alvarez said today that the question which has been tabled directs itself to the United Kingdom’s responsibility regarding the Gibraltar Government’s failure to respect human rights standards not only in regard of unequal age of consent but across criminal offences such as ‘buggery’ and ‘gross indecency’ which exclusively criminalise gay men.

“The question has been tabled by Lib-Dem MP Mike Hancock, and places British Prime Minister Gordon Brown under additional pressure to ensure the Gibraltar government complies with international law requirements,” Mr. Alvarez said. “It is now seven and a half years since the European Court ruled that age of consent inequality is in violation of the Convention. Compliance is normally required within a maximum 3 to 4 years.”

Gay folk can't have consensual sex until they're eighteen, while the straights can legally stick it at sixteen.

Michael Cashman Drives Lesson Home

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's preparing to lay the smackdown on Gibraltar's unequal age of consent laws.

In a meeting with European Parliamentarian and former actor Michael Cashman, Brown reportedly agreed that Gibraltar, an overseas British territory, should lower the queer sex consent from eighteen to sixteen. Straight couples can fuck at sixteen.

Gordon Brown immediately agreed wholeheartedly with my point of view on the matter.

The Prime Minister has agreed to take this matter up to ensure that steps are taken to end this discriminatory practice, the existence of which, is incompatible with our obligations as an EU member and as a party under the European Convention of Human Rights.

Cashman went on to say the Gibraltar government shouldn't be surprised - they've had plenty of time to "rectify" the situation.

(Cough.)

Chief Minister Chided For Sexual Inaction

Gibraltar's under the gay gun again. Activist Peter Tatchell took aim at the overseas territory last week when he blasted their allegedly anti-gay discrimination.

Now, European Parliamentarian Michael Cashman's hoping to strike down Gibraltar's uneven age of consent laws - and plans on bringing in the big names, like England's Prime Minister, Gordon Brown:

I will be raising the issue personally with Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who is a passionate supporter of equality. We have given the Gibraltarian government long enough - now is the time to change the laws.

Those laws grant 16-year heteros the right to fool around, while homos have to wait until they're 18.

Plus, More Bawdy Brits!

Victoria Beckham's self-referential Victoria Beckham: Coming To America airs tonight on NBC. And apparently it's really, really boring. The Spice Girls' feud with Eddie Murphy, however, is not - boring, that is. Okay, it's a little boring.

• Meanwhile, NBC took pity on ABC-lashing Isaiah Washington and offered him a spot on The Bionic Woman. Of the deal, Washington remarks, I am grateful and honored by NBC's belief in me, and I am looking forward to getting back to work." Enjoy your second chance, Washington, and don't fuck it up.

• In somewhat related news, Black Entertainment Television has been getting flack for it's new show, Hot Ghetto Mess. The Viacom-owned network says stereotypical, unflattering images of black people will spur "self-reflection". We can't help but wonder if gays need one, too. Oh, wait, we forgot about William Sledd and his new web show.

Gordon Brown's making up for his piss poor gay rights voting record. The newly appointed (and pictured) British PM appointed openly homo-politico Spencer Livermore as his director of political strategy.

31-year old Livermore's spent the first years of his young political life by Brown's side: he acted as special adviser during Brown's years as Chancellor of the Exchequer. A friend described Livermore thus, "He's brilliantly clever, but also very engaging and charming - a good contrast to Gordon, who's always very intense." In addition to digging dude, Livermore's apparently a "keen film fan", which, of course, means nothing.

In a matter of hours, Tony Blair will officially step down as Britain's Prime Minister, leaving the tony seat for fellow Labour-ite Gordon Brown.

Britain made great gay strides under Blair's rule, including the abolishment of Section 28, which forbade "promotion" of homosexuality. Will Brown continue Blair's pro-gay tradition? If his voting record - or lack thereof - provides any indication: no.
