» Feeling good about Grey's

Grey's Anatomy's writing team worked with the Kaiser Foundation to educate its audience on HIV-transmission between mothers and infants. They based an episode on the idea. The results were striking, after the episode 46% of the audience had a more fact-based view on transmission. Who said TV isn't good for you?

Former Grey's Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington posted a piece on Hufffington Post yesterday. The article - DNA Has Memory: We Are Who We Were - led one reader to ask how we feel about the infamous "faggot flinger" getting space at HuffPo.

Writes the concerned culture consumer: "Is it newsworthy that the Huffington Post has chosen to give Isaiah Washington a platform to spout off? It certainly decreases my respect for the site." There are two aspects of this query which deserve consideration…

This may come as a shock, but we've got a soft spot for sweet love songs. And, thanks to a press flack and alleged Queerty fan, we've found a new one: "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson. The aforementioned flack made sure to mention that Grey's Anatomy featured four songs from the New York-bred artist. We're assuming that's a good thing, right?

Stars Get Down On Coming Out (Again)

Grey's Anatomy gay TR Knight took another trip to Ellen's set yesterday. Knight spent some time promoting his show and chatting about the Emmy and his dog (awww), but he also chatted about life since coming out. Of the nig gay event Knight says, "I feel I've learned so much this past year, so, I'm grateful for that, so yeah, that changes you."

Now that he's out, Ellen wonders, how does young Knight feel about other closeted queers?

Everyone has their own path. You just have to respect that. I don't know what it's like to be in their shoes. I know a lot of people who make statements, but you have to do it when it's right for you. It don't think it's right to force that. It's impossible to know … There's a lot of soul searching you have to do.

Yes - or, there's a lot of "waiting for anti-gay co-star to out me" to do.

Says Knight Plotted Scandal

Isaiah Washington will not rest until he's run his faggot-flinging firing scandal into the deepest, darkest depths of hell. The former Grey's Anatomy actor, who will appear on Larry King next Monday, recently rang homo-journo Keith Boykin to set the record straight. Again…

Miller & McFarlane Sitting In A Tree?

millerwentworth.jpg
Wentworth Miller may say he's straight, but sources say otherwise. It seems the Prison Break star may be breaking it down with Brother & Sisters' Luke McFarlane, who used to date TR Knight of Grey's Anatomy. Quite the gay television cluster fuck, huh?
mcfarlaneluke.jpg
Via Perez Hilton:

Wentworth and Luke have been secretly dating for almost six months now. They’ve been very quiet about their relationship, obviously, as Wentworth is not out of the closet.

Things between the pair are so serious that the couple are talking about moving in together, we hear.

They spend a lot of time at each other’s houses. Wentworth has been pretty reclusive since he’s become famous and he’s been even more of a shut-in since he started dating Luke.

A source over at Fox, which produces Prison Break, claims Miller's been avoiding the press as of late. Why? He doesn't want to dodge any more gay questions. There's only one way to resolve that, Miller, and it ain't by sucking dick behind closed doors. Do it front of the cameras so we can all take a peek, please?

Isaiah Washington's big mouth's flapping again. The former Grey's Anatomy star sat down with Houston Chronicle to clear up that entire faggot-flinging incident.

As we all know, Washington got canned months after calling TR Knight a faggot, doing a GLAAD PSA and going to bigot rehab. Despite all this, ABC decided not to renew the actor's contract for its hit medical drama.

Now, hot on the heels of Jasmyne Cannick's controversial petition, Washington's saying ABC fired the wrong guy. It's TR Knight that should have been sacked, says Washington.

It's About Fucking Time!

Isaiah Washington better have a good agent. The faggot-flinging actor's finally been booted from Grey's Anatomy.

Calls for Washington's dismissal started last year, when Washington inadvertently outed co-star TR Knight. ABC and Washington tried to turn the situation around, including Washington's absurd public service announcements with GLAAD and an ill-conceived "rehab", but it seems network executives weren't convinced. TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, who broke the story, reports:

Multiple sources are telling me that Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy next season. An ABC Studios spokesperson confirms that the actor's contract option has not been picked up, but declined further comment.

One insider, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, speculated that the decision was likely due only in part to the T.R. Knight homophobic slur scandal and the subsequent fallout. "There was a pattern of problematic behavior going back before he used the F-word," says my spy. "I imagine [his dismissal] was the result of all of that."

Washington's rep, Howard Bragman, confirmed the news, adding that his client was informed by Grey's executive producer Shonda Rhimes earlier today that he was not being invited back to the show.

Washington has not released a statement. No doubt the Grey's set will be a better place to work.

Apologized To Heigl After Anti-Gay Remarks

Isaiah Washington's one forgiving "former" homophobe. The Grey's Anatomy star recently set things straight with his GLAAD-sponsored pro-gay PSA's, but apparently the commercials weren't his only peace offerings for last year's faggot flinging. NY Post reports that Washington thanked critical co-star Katherine Heigl after she blasted him for inadvertently outing TR Knight. The blond beauty, whose mama of a comedy, Knocked Up opens this weekend, told reporters that Washington needs to "stop talking". Now, she tells Entertainment Weekly:

Isaiah thanked me, which I didn't understand. He was almost grateful. I don't know Isaiah well, but he takes his work seriously and he loves his character.

He made a big mistake, and it was thoughtless and boneheaded, and I think he's very sorry and embarrassed. This is something that will have changed the scope of his life.

We can't help but wonder what TR Knight has to say about this. And, more importantly, what Washington said to Knight after the infamous incident…

The notion that scandal-ridden actor Isaiah Washington would make a pro-gay PSA for GLAAD borders on the absurd. The entire set-up's like a bad plotline from an equally bad prime time soap: actor fucks up, goes to "rehab", makes PSA telling people not to fuck up. It's ridiculous! We've all read the words, but now you can see the - um - real deal above.

Meanwhile, TMZ also has an uber-bizarro video of Bobby Trendy and an American Idol reject (aka one of Trendy's horrible homo spawn) fagging it up. Warning: this video is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, perfect for anyone looking to call someone a faggot. Isaiah Washington take note.

Ch-ch-check it out, after the jump…

TR Knight's not the only Grey's Anatomy star grabbing headlines this week. Rumor has it Isaiah Washington will not be returning to the hit ABC series. At least not on a regular basis.

Us quotes a proverbial insider: “He will not be back as a series regular". The actor - whose faggot flinging led Knight to come out of the closet - may appear in a few episodes. The article also claims that Knight didn't earn many friends during his two season stay on the set.

Katherine Heigl, 28, said her costar “just needs to stop talking” after Washington used the f-word again at the January 15 Golden Globes, but the damage had been done.

“The cast – especially the women – just don’t like him,” says a Grey’s source.

“The stars of the show really felt ABC made a mistake by keeping Isaiah [after his controversial behavior].”

Washington's flacks deny the rumors and claimsthe actor's still a part of the Grey's team. The representative does concede, however, that they have yet to receive a contract.

We're on the edge of our seats!!! Okay, not really, but we bet Washigton's shitting bricks…

It may strike some of you as queer that The Advocate chose actor TR Knight for the cover of their annual Pride issue. His may have been one of the most anticlimactic coming outs in homo history. The events leading up to the Grey’s Anatomy star’s October 19, 2006 People-hosted revelation were far too explosive to afford Knight a proper, prideful arena.

Co-star Isaiah Washington had an altercation with another Grey’s actor, Patrick Dempsey, reportedly shouting, “I'm not your little faggot like [redacted].” Tongues immediately started wagging and the media – including ourselves – began speculating as to whom Washington referred. More than a few fingers pointed at the initially timorous TR…

The American Family Association has a long history of inciting riots against "pro-gay" companies. They've got their on-and-off hate affair with Wal-Mart. And of course there's their "victorious" campaign against Ford's dalliance with GLAAD.

But how do the "traditional" family focused rabble rousers know which brands to brand enemies of their fundamentalist state? They subject themselves to hours and hours of gay-endorsed television, of course. The group's project summary:

Between February 11 through May 5, American Family Association monitored the top eight prime-time network programs featuring lead or supporting homosexual characters. These programs were specifically identified by the activist-homosexual group GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) as GLAAD Media Award winners, or as showcasing leading or supporting homosexual characters.

Of the eight shows - The Simpsons, ER, The Office, The Class, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy - four air on the Disney-owned ABC. That means the AFA's going to have to add the media giant to its list of offenders, which already includes Ford, Verizon and Quaker Oats. The AFA's got quite a battle ahead.

If they're really serious about taking down fag-friendly firms, AFA members should again take GLAAD's advice: the media watch dog has a rundown of all the gay pride month televisuals.

Ten companies to support, as per the AFA [AfterElton]

Isaiah Washington's making a special reconciliatory trip to Gayville. The Grey's Anatomy star came under fire for his faggot flinging - a liberal linguistic lob that led to TR Knight's coming out - and now he's appearing in two GLAAD-sponsored public service announcements.

Our black sister Lauren Williams over at Stereohyped tipped us off to this Us Weekly "exclusive", which reads:

Says an insider, “Isaiah is committed to making amends.”

The actor's publicist, Howard Bragman, confirmed the ad on Wednesday. "We're gonna have — I want to say at least two versions of it at this point," Bragman said. "We may broaden our message a little."

Well, we're just tickled a pretty shade of pink. Not only because we endorse rehabilitated, apologetic Washington's publicist-endorsed efforts - which we do, begrudgingly), but also in eager anticipation for the announcement itself. What the hell can he say? Something like, "It's not nice to call someone a faggot backstage" and then, "It's not nice to call someone a faggot at the Golden Globes"? Hopefully they've got good screen writer's. Also, we're so pleased to know that Washington and GLAAD's friendship lives on. Mazel to the t-o-v!

The NAACP may have forgotten Isaiah Washington's faggot flinging ways, but ABC execs have a long memory. An anonymous tipster tells Page Six that Washington's anti-gay epithet has cost the Grey's Anatomy star a bit of a bonus:

All the actors are in the midst of contract renegotiations. But ABC is using Isaiah's recent troubles to keep from paying him more… Isaiah knows it is his fault that he may not get the fat raise he was going to get. ABC doesn't have to give him anything - he is under contract for seven years - and this is going to cost him millions. It's just a bitter pill he is going to have to swallow.

We've got one thing to say: good.
