An old, largely forgotten battle reignites this morning.

Former Grey's Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington, who left the show after calling costar TR Knight a "faggot," has filed a complaint against ABC for using his picture in a recent episode of the popular show about doctors and their problems.

[Washington] claims the producers failed to get consent over the use of the picture.

His attorney, Peter Nelson, sent notices to ABC and SAG indicating the alleged inappropriate use of Washington's image, the actor's manager Howard Bragman said.

"They have the rights of the character to advance the story, but not the image," he said, adding that what he expects out of this debacle is a "financial settlement."

Of course he does…

Former Grey's Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington posted a piece on Hufffington Post yesterday. The article - DNA Has Memory: We Are Who We Were - led one reader to ask how we feel about the infamous "faggot flinger" getting space at HuffPo.

Writes the concerned culture consumer: "Is it newsworthy that the Huffington Post has chosen to give Isaiah Washington a platform to spout off? It certainly decreases my respect for the site." There are two aspects of this query which deserve consideration…

Ann Coulter, Isaiah Washington and Bill O'Reilly - is this an asshole convention? No, silly! It's GLAAD's round-up of 2007's year in hate speech.

The media watchdog compiled last year's most headline grabbing gay bashings, like when General Peter Pace called gays "immoral". Ah, sweet, putrid memories…

The Devil's In The 'Details'

Details recently released their "Power 50" issue. Besides being intrigued by Kevin Federline's undeserved cover slot, we're absolutely enthralled by the list's familiar number nine winner: "The Other F-word".

If you take a look back, it appears that 2007 was the year of the F-word—but not the one you’re thinking of. America’s rent-a-quote harridan of hatred, Ann Coulter, used the word to slag presidential candidate John Edwards. Presidential candidate Bill Richardson used the Spanish version (maricón) to slam a guy on the Don Imus radio show. Controversy exploded after Isaiah Washington allegedly dropped the F-bomb on a fellow cast member of Grey’s Anatomy.

It’s a word that anyone who ever spent time in an American school yard is familiar with: faggot. But some bullies grow up, get famous, and keep on using it. “I hate gay people,” blurted former basketball star Tim Hardaway. Tucker Carlson bragged about having given a dude who tried to tap toes with him in a men’s room a taste of his bow-tied brutality (“I . . . hit him against the stall with his head, actually”). Hmmm. The word faggot, it seems, is on the tips of a lot of men’s tongues. They can’t stop thinking about it. Without it they’d be lost, and that makes you wonder who really has the power.

Between this and Out's "gay" debate, queer colloquialisms sure have been getting turned out. Too bad they're not getting worn out, huh? No wonder Details lists The Other F-Word's age as "forever young"

Stars Get Down On Coming Out (Again)

Grey's Anatomy gay TR Knight took another trip to Ellen's set yesterday. Knight spent some time promoting his show and chatting about the Emmy and his dog (awww), but he also chatted about life since coming out. Of the nig gay event Knight says, "I feel I've learned so much this past year, so, I'm grateful for that, so yeah, that changes you."

Now that he's out, Ellen wonders, how does young Knight feel about other closeted queers?

Everyone has their own path. You just have to respect that. I don't know what it's like to be in their shoes. I know a lot of people who make statements, but you have to do it when it's right for you. It don't think it's right to force that. It's impossible to know … There's a lot of soul searching you have to do.

Yes - or, there's a lot of "waiting for anti-gay co-star to out me" to do.

The Bionic Woman makes her triumphant return this fall. And, as many of you may know, British actress Michelle Ryan will be joined by none other than: Isaiah Washington.

The Washington Post's Jonathan Padget takes a closer look at the controversy surrounding Washington's return to prime time. In an effort to get all the angles, Padget calls on some familiar friends: AfterElton's Michael Jensen and our very own schmuck of an editor, Andrew Belonsky.

Isaiah Washington helped Star Jones inaugurate her new, self-titled Court TV series. The interview's perhaps one of the most complex, nuanced pieces of television journalism ever.

Victoria Beckham's self-referential Victoria Beckham: Coming To America airs tonight on NBC. And apparently it's really, really boring. The Spice Girls' feud with Eddie Murphy, however, is not - boring, that is. Okay, it's a little boring.

• Meanwhile, NBC took pity on ABC-lashing Isaiah Washington and offered him a spot on The Bionic Woman. Of the deal, Washington remarks, I am grateful and honored by NBC's belief in me, and I am looking forward to getting back to work." Enjoy your second chance, Washington, and don't fuck it up.

• In somewhat related news, Black Entertainment Television has been getting flack for it's new show, Hot Ghetto Mess. The Viacom-owned network says stereotypical, unflattering images of black people will spur "self-reflection". We can't help but wonder if gays need one, too. Oh, wait, we forgot about William Sledd and his new web show.

• It took George Clooney 29-years to get a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. The Harry Potter kids, Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and the absolutely stunning Emma Watson? Six years. That's gotta sting.

• Ugandan gay activists demand that anti-gay Ethics and Integrity Minister James Nsaba Buturo turn over his "death threats". Or else…

• The Anglican soap opera continues. The General Synod has backed a "covenant" dedicated to wrangling in gays and their liberal allies. Openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson may soon be an endangered species.

Isaiah Washington could have been a farmer for all the shit he slung last night. Appearing with perpetual windbag Larry King's Live show, the former Grey's Anatomy spoke out (again) about being fired months after his faggot-flinging.

And The Coop Gave It To Paris

Isaiah Washington really can't stop talking about being fired from Grey's Anatomy. Why? Because you're all racist:

I apologized and showed my remorse for what I said and for the pain I caused anyone. If a black man can’t get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey Jr. and the governor of California get second and third chances … I think that says a lot about race and this country where we stand.

Washington also says that he didn't go to"homophobia rehab":

There is no rehab for homophobia—that was just some crap being put out by the network. I went into an executive counseling program which many people in this industry know about and go to. They knew what the program was but chose to call it what they wanted to fit their agenda. And more importantly, I volunteered for it because I wanted to understand my fight with Patrick and how it got out of hand like that. I wanted to know what I could do to avoid it happening again.

What a saint. And a studio's liability.

Says Knight Plotted Scandal

Isaiah Washington will not rest until he's run his faggot-flinging firing scandal into the deepest, darkest depths of hell. The former Grey's Anatomy actor, who will appear on Larry King next Monday, recently rang homo-journo Keith Boykin to set the record straight. Again…

Isaiah Washington's big mouth's flapping again. The former Grey's Anatomy star sat down with Houston Chronicle to clear up that entire faggot-flinging incident.

As we all know, Washington got canned months after calling TR Knight a faggot, doing a GLAAD PSA and going to bigot rehab. Despite all this, ABC decided not to renew the actor's contract for its hit medical drama.

Now, hot on the heels of Jasmyne Cannick's controversial petition, Washington's saying ABC fired the wrong guy. It's TR Knight that should have been sacked, says Washington.

Hates On "Racist" ABC

Not all the gays are hating on faggot-flinging Isaiah Washington.

Sappho-journo Jasmyn Cannick - one of the leading voice in the fight against Shirley Q. Liquor - started a petition to save the former Grey's Anatomy star, seen here receiving an NAACP Image award.

According to Cannick, Washington's firing smacks of racism. And she wants ABC to right their wrongs.

Isaiah Washington's finally out of hiding after being fired from Grey's Anatomy. The unemployed actor sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the scandalous situation and offer his side of the story.

When asked whether or not he considers his public booting "fair", Washington remarked:

I don't know if it's a question of "fair." I'm saddened by the outcome. I did everything that the producers and the network asked me to do. I came back under great duress and stress, and thought I was doing the job I was hired to do. I thought that was going to speak for my future at Grey's, but apparently that wasn't the same vision that the network and studio had for me.

This topic came up at the Queerty offices just yesterday. While we can't say whether we believe Washington sincerely believes his GLAAD garbage, ABC and Grey's producers really fucked him over.

Yeah, yeah, we know he called TR Knight a faggot, but, as Washington tells EW, he did everything execs asked of him, put up with months of media harassment and attempted to make amends. If they were going to fire him, they should have done it after the Golden Globes debacle, where he lied about his infamous faggot-flinging. Instead, producers made him into a puppet, paraded him around the media and then tossed him aside. That ain't fresh.
