Holy homos! Logo-owned NewNowNext seems poised to explode all other awards shows! The website just announced the nominees for its first annual eponymous awards show. (You’ll vote for us if you know what’s good for you.) Candis Cayne hosts the show, which airs June 7th, and Janet Jackson will make a special appearance to pick up the Always Next, Forever Now award. GLAAD Media Awards Way Gay
Ugly Betty actress Becki Newton no doubt enjoyed herself at last night’s GLAAD Media Awards. Newton and her castmates, including the ever-adorable Michael Urie, took home the prize for outstanding comedy series, while fellow ABC show, Brothers & Sisters, won in the drama category. Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty accepted the Vanguard Award, and got a little friendly with presenter Ellen DeGeneres. Kathy Griffin won for My Life On The D-List, and shared the award with her lovely mother, just like a gay man! Tom Ford, meanwhile, awarded Herb Ritts a posthumous award, and a Medusa-esque Sharon Stone presented Rufus Wainwright with Stephen F. Kolzak award. Check out the rest of the winners here…. Janet Hearts Ellen
Janet Jackson talked all sort of gay with gossip monger Marc Malkin. In addition to voicing her support for gay marriage, lauding drag impersonators and “owning” her legend label, the singer shows lesbian Ellen DeGeneres loads of love: MM: I actually think Ellen may have a little crush on you. You two had a great rapport when you were on her show. JJ: I absolutely adore here. She’s smart. She’s funny. She’s fun to be around. I really enjoy her. She’s very talented. MM: It’s kind of amazing that when Ellen came out of the closet her sitcom was canceled, but now she’s back on top—one of our biggest stars. JJ: I’m so happy she did do that, because someone had to take that stance…For her to be so courageous and something came out of it much bigger and much better and really positive. It was a shame that they canceled her show once she did that. That’s ridiculous… Jackson can give Ellen more love on Saturday, when the comedienne will present Jackson with GLAAD’s Vanguard Award. We’ve included video of Jackson’s appearance on Ellen’s show after the jump. C’mon! You don’t want to work, do you?! |

Stars Join Logo For Hate Crime PSA
In the wake of Lawrence King’s murder, Portia de Rossi, TR Knight, Andre 3000 and a slew of other stars joined gay station Logo to raise awareness about anti-queer hate crimes. Because, as Janet Jackson says, “None of us are safe until all of us are safe”. The politics of fear being used for good? Crazy! It’s absolutely super that Logo and these celebrities have come together, but they again raise a serious question: what makes one hate crime more notable than the next? Should one central figure be used to fight a universal campaign. We suppose the pros outweigh the cons on this one, but it’s still something that should be considered. Watch the video, after the jump… |

Janet Accepts Tyra’s Whore Bath
We’re not exactly sure what Tyra Banks and Janet Jackson were discussing in the moments before this clip. And, quite frankly, we don’t want to know… 4 Responses» |

Janet Feels The Gay Beat
Janet Jackson’s long been a gay favorite. No surprise, then, that she did a little pre-album sit down with The Advocate. Journo Brandon Voss gets into the thick of Jackson’s gay activism, what she would have happened if “Tito or one of your other siblings” came out - “I honestly don’t know,” says Jackson - and whether she thinks of her homos when writing her tracks: BV: Do you specifically keep gay fans in mind during your writing and recording process? JJ: For certain songs, yeah, for sure I do. I was thinking about ’em when I was making “Rock With You” on the new album—it just has that feel, that beat to … Continued… 5 Responses» |

We Want Your “Feedback” On Janet’s New Track
Janet Jackson just released a new single from her yet-to-be titled full length. This track’s called “Feedback”. Former editor Frank Griggs wonders if this could be the youngest Jackson’s proverbial comeback. We’re not convinced… 17 Responses» |

Happy Endings: Tammy Baldwin Breaks With Barney
• Openly gay Representative Tammy Baldwin on ENDA: I have always been a strong supporter of guaranteeing full civil rights for all in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. My work on this issue will continue until these protections become law. • Researcher wins prize for robot marriage thesis: “Intimate Relationships with Artificial Partners”. • Janet Jackson puts out weave fire at In Touch party. Jackson’s brother, of course, made headlines when his hair caught on fire while filming a 1983 Pepsi commercial. Weird. |

Feds Finally Looking At Janet Jackson’s Nip
Over three years after the infamous - and largely forgotten - “Nipplegate,” a federal appeals court will look into whether Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake should be held accountable for the horror they thrust upon our beloved nation. Respond» |

Afternoon Aural: Beenie Man
Can you believe it’s been a decade since Beenie Man first released his terrible/terrific single, “Who Am I?” Crazy!! Things certainly have changed a lot in the past ten years, including Beenie Man’s evolution as a tacit gay activist - he’s just signed the Reggae Compassionate Act, thus officiating a more gay-friendly existence. To celebrate Beenie’s queer committment, we’ve also included his collaboration with another gay favorite, Janet Jackson. Watch “Feel It Boy”, after the jump… |

Musical Notes: Janet Jackson
We were going to write something on Janet Jacksons’ new album, but judging from the comments on yesterday’s posting, you guys have already formed opinions. While some of you love the album, others aren’t so pleased. For our part, we’re somewhere in the middle. Anyway, we thought we’d do our part to bring people together by posting the video from Janet’s classic “What Have You Done For Me Lately?” That’s something we can all enjoy. (Unless you’re some sort of monster.) Spend a couple minutes to Janet tell her man exactly what she thinks of his no good ways. After the jump, girl! |

Musical Notes: Janet Jackson
We haven’t quite decided how we feel about Janet Jackson’s new album, so we’re going to hold off on a review (as if you’re going to listen to us, anyway). Unsurprisingly, “So Excited,” has infected us. Sure, the beats are a bit uninspired, but it’s still pretty infectious. And, we heart Janet for life. To mark our pseudo-obsession, we’re posting Janet’s performance from Oprah two days ago. The choreography may be a snooze, but we know you’re easily entertained, and who can resist a little Janet in the morning hours? Also, do we see Brian Friedman: that horrible mess from So You Think You Can Dance? in there? Bleck. |

Out There: Kate Bush Is Better Than Madge
• Though he dissed us in his diss of Madonna we are still loving Rich’s site. His Madonna commentary is not our feelings exactly, but we think he makes many valid points. But coming from a Janet Jackson fan, you gotta take it all with a grain of salt. Check out the comments section in the Madonna thread for more on the subject of Madge and The Gays. • Two women with better vocal chops and songwriting abilities than Madonna are releasing albums today. Run and get the new stellar albums by Kate Bush and Cyndi Lauper. Rolling Stone agrees with us. Then again, they like … Continued… Respond» |

Happy Endings: Love Will Never Do (Without Child)
• Janet Jackson denies she popped out a daughter 18 years ago. Sounds like she’s following the Michael Jackson school of thought: Deny! Deny! Deny! • Boston wants to spend $100,000 to attract more gays and lesbian travelers. What a waste of money. We can’t think of a better promotional campaign than being the capital of the only state with legalized same-sex marriage. • Henry Rollins claims he isn’t gay. Yet in the same interview he raves about the homo-heavy flick Capote. He also loved Flightplan, In Her Shoes, and, like us, is just peeing his pants in anticipation of Brokeback Mountain. • And speaking of Capote, it’s been nominated, along with … Continued… Respond» |
