Washington Blade editor Kevin Naff no longer supports Hillary Clinton: "The time has come for Clinton to adopt a gracious and conciliatory tone, end her campaign and endorse Sen. Barack Obama for president." [Washington Blade]

Kevin Naff wrote a response to our GLAAD/Thomas Beatie story. The gist: "The only criticism I have for GLAAD is that it couldn’t suppress the Beatie story." [Washington Blade]

National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association president Eric Hegedus thinks Kevin Naff and his Washington Blade team need to keep on trucking despite alleged intimidation from DNC-associated lawyers. Go free press! [Washington Blade]

Washington Blade editor Kevin Naff recently chatted with Michelangelo Signorile about his ongoing spat with DNC Chairman Howard Dean. And there's audio! Me-ow! [POQ]

Naff Blasts Dean

Duck and cover! The claws are definitely coming out in the DNC v. Washington Blade battle.

Tensions have been building for months, ever since the Blade began writing unflattering pieces regarding Donald Hitchcock's discrimination suit against the Democratic National Committee. Things only got worse last week when a testifying Howard Dean took some swipes at the paper and compared its reporting to that of Fox News. Ouch.

Blade editor Kevin Naff says he didn't want to get personal, but Dean's left him no option:

It is irresponsible of Dean to question the paper’s credibility without offering any specific claims of inaccurate reporting. I challenge him to produce examples of how the paper was “incorrect” in its reporting… Why are party officials, including Dean, so dismissive and critical of the gay press? It’s unfortunate that Dean and his staff have avoided responding to questions that are so important to such a loyal party constituency.

Oh, please, what else are we homos going to do? Vote Republican? Some would rather die - and the Demmies know it.

Hillary Clinton sat down with The Washington Blade's Kevin Naff this weekend to reiterate her strong support of gay rights. The former First Lady again said she supports civil unions, repealing DADT and eradicating parts of the Defense of Marriage Act, which, she says, helps protect state constitutions from exclusive marital definitions. Clinton also took issue with competitor Barack Obama supporters touting his recent gay mentions. Says Clinton, I find it ironic since Sen. Obama had his gospel tour with [Donnie] McClurkin that he and his supporters would take credit for that.” McClurkin, of course, has an anti-gay past and his inclusion caused a major scandal last last year. [Washington Blade]

Washington Blade editor Kevin Naff and his staff better watch their backs. The National Stonewall Democrats are, like, totally pissed the weekly paper published emails between DNC's Brian Bond and an anonymous Stonewaller. Those emails, which we also published, accused DNC Chief of Staff Leah Daughtry, as well as other prominent black leaders, of homophobia and a racialized bunker mentality. Read the Wallers' wails, after the jump.

DNC Counsel Speaks Out Against Leaked Emails
Also, Gay Activist Calls For Julie Tagen's Head

The fur continues to fly in the DNC gay discrimination case. Yesterday we published some less-than-flattering internal emails in which DNC staffers discuss the gay press, including the Washington Blade. Blade editor Kevin Naff promptly issued a biting response.

Today we hear that gay activist and former National Stonewall Democrats executive committee member Lee Bolin wants to see deputy finance director Julie Tagen fired.

Tagen, of course, derided the Blade and other gay publications thus, "I tend to use the Blade and other gay papers in the bottom of the birdcage." Tagen's candid response led Bolin to write to some pink peers, "If a DNC staffer disparaged black, Latino, or Jewish media the way Deputy Finance Director Julie Tagen did LGBT media, that person would already be out of a job." We're not convinced that Tagen deserves to be fired, for she didn't really insult gay people, just gay press. We do that all the time!

We called the DNC for a statement regarding Bolin's burning desire. Though staffers can't comment, DNC Chief Counsel Joe Sandler sent over this statement:

The DNC has consistently refrained from commenting about ongoing litigation out of respect for the legal process and to protect the interests of everyone involved. It is therefore unfortunate that Donald Hitchcock has chosen to abuse the discovery process by selectively leaking documents.

We can't say where we got the documents, but we can say we don't find anything "unfortunate" about it…

Does Mitt Romney Tacitly Support Gay Marriage?

Mitt Romney's Gubernatorial career - and conservative image - pivoted on defending his state's right to choose whether or not gays should marry. Could his recent remarks concerning federalism poke a hole through his painfully cultivated image?

"Travolta Ain't Anti," Says 'Spray' Gay

John Travolta just got another pro-gay apostle. Hairspray director Adam Shankman joins Hairspray creator John Waters in defending the portly star from Washington Blade editor Kevin Naff's much-publicized "gay boycott".

Says the 43-year old gay filmmaker:

I am stunned this has gotten that far. [Naff] has made the dumbest claims on the entire planet. Everybody involved in Hairspray - all the creators - are gay. So John has no problem with people being gay - me, the writers, composer, John Waters - all gay. John's personal beliefs never walked onto my set. I never heard the word Scientology.

There you have it, folks: John Travolta loves men, especially when they're gay.

John Waters Comes Out For John Travolta

John Waters scoffs as the gay protest over John Travolta's role in Hairspray. Washington Blade's Kevin Naff started the guffaw when he objected to Travolta's tie to the anti-gay Scientologists.

Speaking to NYDN, Waters defended Travolta's appearance in the musical movie based on his non-musical movie:

If [Travolta] was homophobic dancing in that fat suit with as many gay people as are working on this film, he would have had a heart attack and been dead.

First of all, he is playing a loving mother, not [the late gay politician] Harvey Milk. I'm all for gay troublemaking, but is this journalist going to police the religion of all actors? Do we boycott Nicole Kidman because she's Catholic?

No, Mr. Waters, we shouldn't boycott Kidman because she's a Catholic! That's ridiculous! We should boycott her because she's a bad actress. And funny looking.
