Or, Rather, There...
Yes, you read that right: a film based around New York City came out in England first. That sort of stings a bit. And we think this geographical diss has our colleague Whitney Little a bit bitter: "As expected, Sarah Jessica Parker stole the spotlight — much to the other stars’ dismay — with a ridiculous bird on top of her head." We, meanwhile, think the hat's fab! More pictures over at Mollygood. |

The kids at The Advocate sent us over their article on Kim Cattrall, whose Sex and The City movie soon debuts. While Cattrall's all well and good, the depth of the piece is - well, minimal. That's why we suggest you read what Martha Plimpton had to say to journo Brandon Voss. She's always been one of our favorites and has loads to say about playing gay and just being generally fabulous. |

How many gay-themed sitcoms does it take to jade the American public? ABC is apparently trying to find out, having bought most of the pilots for gayish shows that could air this fall. Our friend Michael at AfterElton.com somehow got his greedy gay hands on the top-secret lowdown on each of the shows.
We are most excited about Him and Us, which features sexy Brit Anthony Stewart Head (aka Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) playing "a flamboyant, rhinestone-studded diva who is as outlandish off-stage as on," and co-star's homo-favorite Kim Cattrall as his stressed-out manager. Even though the show has been bought by a network, meaning the chances of seeing Anthony's naked butt are pretty slim, we still hold out hope, like maybe he'll wear some skin colored spandex, or briefly flash the audience long enough for some intrepid blogger to get a screencap. Don't mock us please. This is our life. Fall Television Pilots Feature Everything from Gay Dads to Gay Rock Superstars [AfterElton] |

"We all wanted to do a movie but I think that time has passed. There was a script, there were sets, there were costumes, there was a crew, and that's all gone now. The sets are all broken down or sold or in a dumpster or, I don't know, on eBay. It'd be hard to buy it back. All the shoes, we have. We all have our shoes and they can have them back." Sarah Jessica Parker on the demise of the Sex And The City movie. Doesn't it break your heart? The movie was was scrapped because Kim Cattrall dropped out to pursue career diversification, and accepted a role in the dismal kid movie The Ice Princess. We'll never forgive her. In the perfect example of "art imitates life": Marcia Cross, the Desperate Housewives star once rumored to be a lesbian, will take a lesbian turn on the show.
Cross' character Bree Van de Kamp will reportedly fall for another woman, but have the relationship cut short when her evil son catches on to her taste for the ladies. Her son has held a grudge against her since earlier in the series, when Bree struggled with her son's proclimation that he is gay–to which she told him he "won't go to Heaven." Cross was "outed" by internet gossip last year, but publicly announced her hererosexuality on the cover of one of those gay magazines no one really reads anymore. Bree certainly has had a tough go of it. This new lesbian action on Housewives follows (a) Bree's turn into a drunk who passes out on her front lawn; (b) Bree's play in the suicide-death of her pharmacist and would-be lover (which was too convenient and unresolved; obviously the pharmacist is coming back), and (c) Bree's dabble in the world of S&M domination with her submissive husband, whom the pharmacist killed. And we thought blowing herself to bits on Melrose Place was nutty. According to StarPulse.com, both Kim Cattrall and Dana Delaney are being considered for the lesbian-lover role; but Cattrall recently joined the cast of Sir Elton John's television project Him & Us, so those rumors might be a little antiquated. We recommend Anne Heche, as she is a brilliant actress in need of work, and she's just as crazy in real life as any of the characters on the show. We worry about the welfare of (Housewives' creator) Marc Cherry's mother, as he seems to have a lot of psychotic baggage about their relationship. Even though the show is just in the "pilot" stages, we are quite sure it will be on our screens soon. Everything Sir Elton touches turns to gold. And we're thrilled to see Cattrall back on the screen, as we certainly did NOT see Ice Princess. We imagine not much has to be reworked on the "Freddie" character, as Cattrall is about a breath away from being a gay man anyway. Quite exciting.
