A group of gays are rallying to erect a number of gay icons on queer-friendly Old Compton Street, starting with a bronze Kylie Minogue.

Said one campaigner: “The Eros statue should be in Old Compton Street, not Piccadilly Circus. But we’re having our very own little goddess of love, in the form of Kylie.”

The boys are planning other homo monuments, but say they wanted to start with Kylie because she’s their favorite: “Kylie is our favorite gay icon, so her statue will be erected first. The other names are being held under wraps at the moment.”

London’s G-A-Y Bar may soon get a new mama.

Mean Fiddler, the entertainment company that owns G-A-Y and G-A-Y Late, announced that it’s considering an offer from music and entertainment investors, MAMA group, which owns myriad music venues and publications, including The Fly. Melvin Benn, Mean Fiddler’s managing director, confirms the offer: We consider the offer to be positive and are currently awaiting confirmation of that offer being confirmed before a final decision is to be taken. We anticipate the offer to be formalized in early August. Kylie Minogue’s taking a sci-fi spin this holiday season.

The Australian singer - and former soap star - signed on for a “very special” episode of BBC’s queer-friendly series, Dr. Who - whose gay character, Jackharkness, spun off on his in Torchwood.

The episode in question - “Voyage of the Damned” - begins filming in Wales next month and apparently Minogue’s “thrilled”: It is an incredible thrill to be joining David and the entire Dr Who production for this year’s Christmas special.
