Left-leaning non-profit Code Pink protested at a Mike Huckabee rally this morning in San Francisco. Obviously perturbed by their presence, the Republican presidential candidate kept his cool as he exploited their activism for political gain: "Thank you very much. You know what? The beauty of America is that a person can come and even make a disruption, and you know what, that person is not going to be taken out and shot… We live in a great country, folks, that a person can make her statement - and she's gonna get to be heard. She's probably get a nice little story on the news tonight for having disrupted this… Try that in Cuba. Try that in Iran." Cue lap dog applause. |

Will Depleted Funds End Race?
Some of Mike Huckabee’s top advisers are working without pay and some field directors have been let go entirely, the campaign said today, as money woes have taken hold. Huck's a far cry from Reagan, huh Rollins? |

Way Ahead
Rasmussen Reports got a head start on Carolina polling frenzy. The website has posted pre-primary numbers. Here are the Democratic digits: Barack Obama has regained a double-digit lead over Hillary Clinton in South Carolina’s Democratic Presidential Primary. John McCain and Mike Huckabee seem to be tied with 24% of the vote, while Romney trails with 18% of Republicans. The state's primaries will take place on January 26th. |

Straight From The Horse's Mouth
In case you've just woken from a coma, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is a dirty, disgusting, tiresome homophobe. Here's his latest offense: QUESTIONER: Is it your goal to bring the Constitution into strict conformity with the Bible? Some people would consider that a kind of dangerous undertaking, particularly given the variety of biblical interpretations. At bestiality's a step up from necrophilia, right? |

Quite A Party...
Iowa's social conservatives - who overwhelming supported Mike Huckabee during their presidential primaries - will take to the streets to protest gay marriage today. The issue gained attention last summer when a Polk County judge ruled Iowa's marriage law is unconstitutional. The decision has been appealed to the Iowa Supreme Court. One of the rally's organizers is Chuck Hurley of the Iowa Family Policy Center. Too bad we can't make it. |

"...We need to do is amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards..."
Despite the fact that the United States have a clear division between church and state, Republican Mike Huckabee told Michigan voters we should change the Constitution to reflect "God's standards". I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that’s what we need to do is amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than trying to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family. Huckabee lost the Michigan primary with only 16% of the vote. And people say Americans are dumb! |

Can Movement Survive The Huckabee?
Mr. Huckabee, who was a Southern Baptist minister before serving as governor of Arkansas, is the only candidate in the presidential race who identifies himself as an evangelical. But instead of uniting conservative Christians, his candidacy is threatening to drive a wedge into the movement, potentially dividing its best-known national leaders from part of their base and upending assumptions that have held the right wing together for the last 30 years. Will Huckabee become a political heretic or a hero? It depends on who you ask, we suppose. We know which way we're leaning… |

Huckabee agreed last month to meet with Jeanne Ginder-White after the former Governor's HIV quarantine comments made headlines. Presidential candidate Huckabee, however, has yet to get in touch with Ginder-White. And activists are pissed: blockquote>"We are still waiting for the meeting,” said A. Gene Copello, Executive Director of The AIDS Institute. “It is our sincere hope that Governor Huckabee will keep his word given to Jeanne White-Ginder that he will meet with her," said Copello. "Is Governor Huckabee a man of his word or is this just more typical political double-speak?” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “It has been 29 days, Jeanne White-Ginder and the HIV/AIDS advocacy community continues to wait." * Huckabee, do yourself a favor and sit down with Ginder-White. At least for a photo-op to prop up that "compassionate" persona. *Has Solmonese forgotten his ENDA double speak? |

Stephen Baldwin Endorses Mike, Blasts Gay Marriage
First Chuck Norris hopped on Huckabee's campaign and now Stephen Baldwin's come out for the Republican presidential candidate. The second least attractive of the Baldwin brothers, Stephen called into Howard Stern to express his love for Huckabee and his distaste for gay marriage. Read all about it, after the jump. |

More than eight in 10 Huckabee supporters said they are born again or evangelical Christians, compared to less than half of Romney's. Nearly two-thirds of Huckabee backers also said it was very important that their candidate share their religious beliefs, compared to about one in five of Romney's. Surprisingly, only half of Huckabee's supporters consider themselves "conservative", as do half of Romney lovers. Meanwhile, 60% of Huckabee caucusers say "values" are important in picking a president. They do not, however, have much faith in Huckabee's White House odds: "…Fewer than one in 20 said they thought he had the best chance of wining [sic] in November." |
