Rasmussen Reports' national poll puts John McCain and Mitt Romney head-to-head for Republican nomination. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, still leads for Democrats, taking 40% of the projected vote. Barack Obama trails with 31%. These numbers do not, however, reflect post-S.C. polls.

OMG! Mitt Romney, like, totally hangs with black kids! And quotes once popular, perhaps inappropriate song lyrics, "Who let the dogs out?"

Please, please, please let this man be our next president! Actually, better yet, we hope he becomes supreme ruler of the universe!

Ya heard?

Glen Johnson Speaks The Truth, Romney Refuses To Believe

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney lost his cool yesterday.

The Republican popped into a South Carolina Target to speak with reporters when AP correspondent Glen Johnson challenged Romney's lie: "Lobbyists don't run my campaign". Johnson pointed out that lobbyist Ron Kaufman not only helps strategize policy and debate, but sits in on key campaign meetings. That, he said, proves that a lobbyist is in the upper echelons of the campaign. Romney wouldn't budge, however, and gets frightfully angry. "Listen to my words," he says, as if simply uttering something makes it true.

What a schmuck.

Way Ahead

Rasmussen Reports got a head start on Carolina polling frenzy. The website has posted pre-primary numbers. Here are the Democratic digits:

Barack Obama has regained a double-digit lead over Hillary Clinton in South Carolina’s Democratic Presidential Primary.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in South Carolina shows Obama earning 44% of the vote, Clinton attracting 31%, and John Edwards at 15%.

John McCain and Mike Huckabee seem to be tied with 24% of the vote, while Romney trails with 18% of Republicans.

The state's primaries will take place on January 26th.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney swept the Michigan primary yesterday. The native son took 39% of the vote, according to MSNBC, while John McCain slid into second with a distant 30% of the population. It's unclear whether Democrats gave Romney their vote to throw McCain's campaign. Only 24% of Romney supporters said that he "says what he believes," which we found interesting.

Mitt Romney's master plan failed. The former Massachusetts governor hoped to revamp his image for the right wing, but an overwhelming amount of Evangelicals prefer Iowa winner Mike Huckabee

More than eight in 10 Huckabee supporters said they are born again or evangelical Christians, compared to less than half of Romney's. Nearly two-thirds of Huckabee backers also said it was very important that their candidate share their religious beliefs, compared to about one in five of Romney's.

Surprisingly, only half of Huckabee's supporters consider themselves "conservative", as do half of Romney lovers.

Meanwhile, 60% of Huckabee caucusers say "values" are important in picking a president. They do not, however, have much faith in Huckabee's White House odds: "…Fewer than one in 20 said they thought he had the best chance of wining [sic] in November."

Will 'Meet The Press' Appearance Sink Campaign?

mitt_romney_for_president1-1.jpg
Mitt Romney's Meet The Press appearance continues to cost him friends. The Republican presidential candidate raised a few eyebrows when he tacitly endorsed state-sponsored Employment Non-Discrimination Laws. Said Mitt, "I would not support at the federal level, and I changed in that regard because I think that policy makes more sense to be evaluated or to be implemented at the state level."

First Matt LaBarbera came out against Republican Romney, calling his pussy-footing a "Christmas present" for the gays. LaBarbera said such a stance "disqualifies him as a pro-family leader". Now Renew America pundit Grant Swank's making a similar argument…

Will Civil Union "Support" Sink Endorsements?

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's losing friends. Anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera called on pro-family organizations to rescind Romney endorsements.

Apparently LaBarbera objects Romney's recent appearance on NBC's Meet The Press, during which the Republican said state-based gay laws "make more sense" than a federal law.

LaBarbera took this soft line to mean Mitt supports the "gay agenda":

Mitt Romney's Christmas present to the homosexual lobby disqualifies him as a pro-family leader. Laws that treat homosexuality as a civil right are being used to promote homosexual 'marriage,' same-sex adoption and pro-homosexuality indoctrination of schoolchildren. These same laws pose a direct threat to the freedom of faith-minded citizens and organizations to act on their religious belief that homosexual behavior is wrong.

See, Mitt? That's what you get when you try to play both for both teams.

We're Sure He's Heartbroken...

We take it the Concord Monitor ain't feeling the Republicans. The New Hamsphire, which featured the aforementioned anti-Huckabee op-ed, announced this weekend that they will not vote for Mitt Romney.

Entitled "Mitt Romney Should Not Be President," the piece revolves around Romney's historic flip-flops:

If you followed only his tenure as governor of Massachusetts, you might imagine Romney as a pragmatic moderate with liberal positions on numerous social issues and an ability to work well with Democrats. If you followed only his campaign for president, you'd swear he was a red-meat conservative, pandering to the religious right, whatever the cost. Pay attention to both, and you're left to wonder if there's anything at all at his core.

When New Hampshire partisans are asked to defend the state's first-in-the-nation primary, we talk about our ability to see the candidates up close, ask tough questions and see through the baloney. If a candidate is a phony, we assure ourselves and the rest of the world, we'll know it.

Mitt Romney is such a candidate. New Hampshire Republicans and independents must vote no.

Romney's handsome but misguided spokesman Kevin Madden dismissed the "liberal" editors.

(P.S. Did anyone else see Chris Matthews drill Madden about Romney's MLK lie? It's beautiful!)
