The ongoing drama surrounding Lawrence King’s February murder took another twist yesterday.

California Judge postponed the arraignment of 14-year old Brandon McInerney, who’s accused of shooting fifteen year old King, who had a crush on the boy. The arraignment was meant to take place yesterday, but will now occur on June 12.

In the meantime, journalist Karen Ocamb had a chat with District Attorney Maeve Fox, who discussed the limited possibility of a plea bargain, why McInerney represents a very adult threat and, yes, took on the defense team’s claim that the school is to blame for King’s murder…

Some gays can just go so bad. Take, for example, inaugural Mr. Gay UK Anthony Morley, who’s accused of murdering and possibly eating 33-year old Damian Oldfield (pictured), whose body police discovered in Morley’s house last week. And it wasn’t a pretty picture: When police discovered the body of Damian Oldfield, 33, at a terraced house in Harehills, Leeds, they are said to have found part of his right leg had been carved up and the flesh diced and cooked on a kitchen worktop. It is thought tests showed the flesh was human.

The former porn stars are currently awaiting trial for the January, 2007 murder of producer Bryan Kocis, who prosecutors say the men killed over a business dispute.

The debate over who’s to blame for Lawrence King’s death continues to rage two months after his murder.

For those of you living under a rock, 15-year old King died in February after a 14-year old classmate, Brandon McInerney, shot him in the head. King had reportedly asked McInerney to be his Valentine, which many say spurred the violent outburst. Thus, many claim that King only invited the explosive retaliation. Journalist Neil Broverman once mulled that theory, while a Mississippi State University student took it one step further: “King… may have gone too far by imposing his sexuality on others.” A pretty distasteful conclusion - and one that will no doubt be getting heavy play during McInerney’s murder trial…

A number of gay groups are banding together to fight for Brandon McInerney, the 14-year old who shot teenaged homo Lawrence King to death. While prosecutors want to try McInerney as an adult, activists are pushing for a juvenile consideration. “We are saddened and outraged by the murder of junior high school student Lawrence King… At the same time, we call on prosecutors not to compound this tragedy with another wrong. Indian police may have a gay panic case on their hands.

Coppers arrested 18-year old Kalpesh Patel this week for the murder of 35-year old Mohan Patel, with whom he has no familial relation. Kalpesh admitted to killing the older man, but claims he was simply defending himself from Mohan’s sexual advances: On Monday night, Mohan asked him to accompany him to the Natraj theatre for some work. On finding a deserted place, Mohan asked him to have a homosexual relationship with him. On his refusal, Mohan threatened to kill him and even slapped and punched and later tried to rip his clothes. Alejandro Fuentes Mejia’s life came to a distressing, disturbing end earlier this week. Acapulco Police found the 48-year old Mexican national’s body last week - and the details are absolutely sickening: The body of 48-year old Alejandro Fuentes Mejia was found on the morning of February 21st with his hands tied behind his back in a dirt road that cut through a park near his place of employment.

Mejia had last been seen the day before at his place of work - the Institute of Social Security and Services - and was still wearing his work uniform. His body showed signs of torture and indications that he had been stoned to death.

Do we smell a gay panic defense?

Floridian 17-year old Simmie Williams Jr. found himself dead this weekend after being gunned down in a drive by shooting. Friends and police suspect hate may have been a motivating factor, for Williams often dressed as a girl and, in fact, was dressed to the nines at the time of his death:

Simmie Williams Jr., 17, was attacked on the 1000 block of Sistrunk Boulevard by two young men who wore dark clothing and might live in the neighborhood, police said. Williams, who was wearing a dress and was known in the area by his first name or as “Chris” or “Beyonce,” was shot about 12:45 a.m. Friday and soon afterward died at Broward General Medical Center, police said.It’s unclear what Williams was doing in the area, about four miles from his house, but police are investigating whether he was working as a prostitute, officials said.

Williams’ mother said her son was openly gay, but she didn’t know what he did when he went out at night, and she didn’t know he wore women’s clothes. Broward County gay rights organizations are angry over Williams’ death, of course but, as Equality Florida’s Nadine Smith says, not surprised: “We can be horrified, but we cannot be surprised. Just 10 days ago, 15 year-old Lawrence King was gunned down in California.” Isn’t America supposed to be “the best” country in the world? Why, then, do we keep hearing stories of dead queer teenagers. This shit’s really depressing!
