Oh, lord! The American “Family” Association refuses to give up their “good” fight against McDonald’s.

Anyway, Britain’s advertising authority announced today that they will not be investigating complaints: The UK’s advertising regulator has decided not to investigate Heinz’s “male kiss” TV ad, despite 215 complaints from viewers that it was offensive and “inappropriate to see two men kissing”.

Heinz’s TV ad for its new Deli Mayo line, which features two men sharing a brief kiss, has caused an international furore after the food company decided to pull the ad off air after less than a week.

The duo, both of whom were once Republicans, most likely won’t win the White House, but most observers agree that their ticket threatens John McCain’s candidacy, becoming this year’s Ralph Nader. Root bristles at such talk, insisting he’s in it to win it - and to set the dominant parties straight.

The good news is that in a shocking season finale, The Chosen One, Kristy, rejected Tila’s offer of a shot at “love.” The acting was superb, and we expect an Emmy nomination in the very near future. “It’s not just a plastic key,” Kristy said. “It’s the key to her heart.” Wow. Heavy stuff right there.

Citing a recent spike in HIV infection among gay men, she-beast activist Linda Harvey implores her fellow backward peers to ramp up the fight against gay clubs in schools. Shrieks Harvey, “When are public health officials going to intervene and shut down homosexual clubs and other pro-homosexual programs in our schools?” Because, you know, supporting struggling teens somehow increases HIV infection. Right wing radio host Rush Limbaugh, who recently said the Democrats “bend over” for the gays and blacks, just renewed his contract and may make as much as $400 million between now and 2016. [Drudge]

Californian queers may be able to marry, but that doesn’t mean all the gay couples are feeling gay. Remember, the federal government doesn’t recognize same-sex nuptials, which means binational couples still face long-distance romances, emigration or simply calling it quits. [Reuters]

He and his cronies did, after all, use us for political gain and continue to poo-poo on the idea of same-sex marriage.

Despite all that, however, Bush does deserve some lavender love, says activist David Benkof:
It is unquestionable that George W. Bush has done more to fight HIV/AIDS than any president in American history, including Clinton. The people pushing Bush to fight the epidemic at home and abroad are overwhelmingly conservative Christians — the same people we keep hearing gay leaders tar as narrow-minded and bigoted. Well, those narrow-minded bigots (who never had the president’s ear during the Clinton administration) deserve far more credit for relieving suffering from HIV in this decade than gay men and lesbians did in the previous two decades combined.

Ugandan gay activist Frank Mugisha sent us an email to inform us that police arrested two trans women at a bar back in May. The ladies, cops said, were causing a “public nuisance,” which sounds like fancy code for being queer. Considering the lack of evidence - and despite the nation’s overarching anti-gay and trans attitudes - a judge did the right thing and dismissed the case late last month, citing lack of evidence. While that’s good news, Uganda’s laws still skew against the so-called “sexual deviants.”
