Sally Kern's back! The Oklahoma lawmaker, who gained national prominence for her anti-gay stance, lashed again yesterday, this time trying to awkwardly justify her hateful ways:

Tuesday's remarks were made at the Cleveland County Republican Club where she once again repeated her opposition to gay marriage and homosexuality. She opened by saying she was a “cultural warrior for Judeo-Christian values.”

“I am not saying everyone has to be Christian; this is not a homogeneous nation,” Kern told the audience. “What you have to be is someone who believes in a Judeo-Christian ethic, in other words, in knowing there's a right and wrong.”

“Not all lifestyles are equal; not all religions are equal,” she continued. “Was I saying all people are not equal? Heavens no; we were all created equal.”

Some are just more righteous, right Sally?

» Loaded.

"A state lawmaker who gained national notoriety with an anti-homosexual rant was stopped from entering the state Capitol Wednesday when she was found to have a loaded handgun in her purse, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Patrol spokeswoman Chris West said Republican Rep. Sally Kern was not charged because there did not appear to be any "malicious intent" behind her actions." Unless there were gay folk about… [AP]

CNN Anchor Defends English Language

Brent Rinehart appeared on CNN's American Morning todayto defend his anti-gay comic book.

In case you weren't paying attention, the Oklahoma County Commissioner, who is running for reelection, published the 16-page book to highlight his commitment to destroying the queers. When asked whether it's relevant to his election, Rinehart insists that it is, because we are in a cultural war. When asked whether he's homophobic, Rinehart played (real) dumb: I'm not even sure as to what homophobic means. But let's just keep in mind that we are in a cultural war, not just here in the state of Oklahoma but nationwide." CNN journo John Roberts does not seem amused. You can tell when he does a little grammar check: "We should also point out that the word pedophile is spelled wrong in the two times that's it's used in this comic book."

Check out the transcript, after the jump…

With regard to an earlier post on Oklahoma County Commissioner Brent Rinehart's anti-gay comic book, here's a page. And here's the PDF for the entirely terrible tome.

Brent Rinehart takes gay-baiting to a whole new level. The Oklahoma County Commissioner, who is running for reelection, will reportedly publish a 16-page comic book in which a cast of characters battle the ever-worrisome homos:

The 16-page comic book makes fun of homosexuals and criticizes Rinehart's political opponents. It features a man and woman admiring Rinehart's often-controversial political career."

An angel and Satan, as well as "toga-wearing gays, political figures, and trench coat-clad henchmen" figure among the comic book's characters in the odd re-election campaign propaganda:

"In one sequence, Satan says: 'If I can get the kids to believe homosexuality is normal!' The angel replies: 'Hey Satan, not with Brent around you won't!' Rinehart said he doesn't think the depiction is inappropriate and that he is proud of the comic.

This man's obviously severely mentally disturbed.

"An Oklahoma woman was busted for bestiality after her son stumbled on a trove of homemade movies showing her having sex with dogs." And, no, it's wasn't Sally Kern, although that would have been incredible. [NY Post]

» False.

It's official. Anti-gay lawmaker Sally Kern's a big, fat liar. She claims PFLAG twisted her words to make it seem as if she came out against gay job discrimination. Well, PFLAG taped their 40-minute meeting and she repeatedly says she doesn't condone anti-gay employment discrimination. She says a whole lot more, too. [PFLAG]

Social conservatives will shower Sally Kern with praise today, but the anti-gay lawmaker has no friends on The Oklahoman's editorial team.

Kern's main focus in the Legislature has been on anti-gay initiatives, such as trying to determine where libraries should place books with homosexual themes. "God's Word does not change. … Therefore, my opinion also will not change,” she said last week.

Kern will be shown a little love today when the American Family Association holds a rally in her support at the Capitol. Perhaps constituents ought to hold a rally of their own, urging this one-trick pony to put her tiresome personal agenda aside and work to do something constructive.

We have a suggestion, but it's not fit for print.

Oklahoma lawmaker Sally Kern simply can't quit her anti-gay ways. After coming out last week against gay discrimination, Kern took pen to paper and published an op-ed in which she again rails against the so-called "gay agenda:"

Anyone who thinks there is no homosexual agenda need only look here in Oklahoma to the newly formed Equal Rights Project created to help elect candidates by bridging the gay/straight community. The Equal Rights Project states "We felt we were uniquely qualified to help those running in the South and the Bible Belt. Running in these communities is much different than in California and New York. Our idea was to train, educate and support all candidates who support equal rights for all."

Homosexuals are already citizens who have equal rights. They want "special rights" for the acceptance of their deviant lifestyle. I'm thankful that Oklahoma is different than California and New York. I pray it stays that way.

Despite meeting with PFLAG and coming out against anti-gay discrimination yesterday, lawmaker Sally Kern still maintains that we gays are a blight on American society.

Speaking with about 40 people at a contentious University of Central Oklahoma meeting, Kern again stood by her now infamous remarks on the "homosexual lifestyle": "If I knew it was being recorded, I'd still say the same thing. I will not back down from what I believe the Bible teaches.”

Kern also took some time to reiterate her trepidation over Islam in America: "It's like oil and water: They (Islamic law and American law) won't mix."

Old dogs can learn new tricks. Infamously anti-gay lawmaker Sally Kern today with the folks at PFLAG and they apparently made her realize that we gays aren't terrorist demon spawns. Via PageOneQ:

Oklahoma House Rep. Sally Kern has taken a stand opposing discrimination against gays in the workplace. The embattled lawmaker is also considering another meeting with more PFLAG parents at their local chapter…

Prior to today's meeting, Rep. Kern expressed that she saw the "gay agenda" as a bigger threat to the United States than international terrorism, and used an analogy suggesting that such an agenda needed to be caught early and treated like one would treat cancer.

This is incredible, especially considering Kern defended herself just last weekend. It's worth noting that Kern did not apologize, according to a PFLAG press release, which we've included after the jump.

It should be interesting to hear what Kern has to say to the anti-gay kids of University of Central Oklahoma's College Republicans. Someone bring a tape recorder.

Sally Kern's about to get some competition - in a good way.

Fifty-nine year old social worker Ron Marlett announced this week that he'll run against the anti-gay politico in Oklahoma's next election. While he's been mulling running for a while, Marlett says Kern's anti-gay audio spurred him to civil action:

I've just been concerned for some time about the damage done by extremes. I abhor hatred. I abhor hatred of people, of groups. I think everyone is worthy of respect.

I do not believe people have the right to incite violence with their free speech. Free speech can be provocative and it can be considered hateful by some. We have to treat people with dignity and respect.

Marlett's definitely got our vote! Or, he would if we lived in that district.

Kern (pictured, as we imagine her) remains unconcerned, telling her local NBC affiliate that she's in it to win it: "That's the political process so I have no problem. I'll do what needs to be done and the people will decide. That's the process." Let's hope it processes her out.

Someone's ploy for public sympathy has fallen apart.

An Oklahoma lawmaker alleged that gay activists had sent Sally Kern life threatening emails following publication of her anti-gay audio. Now that the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has started sifting through the letters, however, Kern's setting the public record straight:

A fellow lawmaker contacted the OSBI on Monday and suggested that agents go through the e-mails, some of which might be threatening, OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said.

Kern said Monday that she had not received death threats. On Tuesday, she said, "It's changed," but she did not elaborate.

Brown said Tuesday, "There are a lot of e-mails to the representative that say, 'You ought to die,' rather than, 'I am going to kill you.'

"I wouldn't characterize them as death threats," she said.

Well, we certainly hope no naughty homos have been sending threatening letters. Kern should resign, yes, but death's a bit much. Also, it gives her fuel, and nobody wants that!

On another note, are we the only ones freaked out by Kern's glassy, Stepford stare?

Sally Kern's ears must be on fire, because we just can't stop talking about her! First came the Oklahoma lawmakers infamous rant and then we had that whole "first amendment" debate. The juiciest story of all came yesterday, when we looked into rumors that Kern and her husband, Dr. Steve Kern, had and hid a homo son, Jesse.

Dr. Kern, who's a Baptist preacher, issued a statement to squash those gay rumors - and perpetuate some others. It's actually very clever:

Our son is not gay. We would still love him if he was, but that would not change the fact that homosexuality is a chosen life style and that we would pray for our son to have a change of heart. My heart goes out to the many parents who have lost sons to AIDs [sic] and other STDs. Those kinds of deaths are tragic because they could have been avoided.

Ah, yes, we gay folk are simply crawling with infection! We practically are AIDS!

Meanwhile, more internet chatter led us to the Oklahoma State Courts Network, a beautiful internet archive of the state's criminal records. And guess what we found?! Three - count 'em, three! - cases against a man named Jesse Jacob Kern, who may or may not be related to Sally and Steve Kern, who just happen to have a son named Jesse.

The first Kern case involved some attempted oral sodomy and went down, so to speak, on March 27, 1989. That charge was dismissed by request of the state on June 9, 1989. What's most interesting, however, is that this Mr. Kern just happened to be in court on that same day on a charge of trying to "obtain money by false pretenses," whatever that means. Kern also stepped up to a driving under suspension charge. He was convicted of both on October 10, 1989.

That must have been a hard year for this Jesse Jacob Kern - and his parents are definitely to blame!
