In addition to revealing the baby's sex - a girl - Beatie suggests he and his wife may keep reproducing after the new child arrives in four weeks: I feel on top of the world. We're sure trans activists are luke warm to this news. |

Oprah and Gayle King. Chace Crawford and JC Chasez. Tom Cruise and an old, faded, perhaps tear stained snapshot of C. Thomas Howell (pictured). Are these some famous gay couples? Yes. And no. And maybe. [Gawker] |

Could anything be more incoherent or sad? Gender Identity Disorder is not "incredible," no matter how politically fashionable it has become to claim otherwise. It is not just another hue in the rainbow of diversity. It is a dysfunction. It should be met with sympathy, counseling, and therapy, not with five-page spreads in People and appearances on Oprah. We can't say we're surprised by Jacoby's reaction - he once argued that legalizing sodomy would lead to an explosion of incest and bestiality. |

For those of you who missed it, Scarborough and his cohorts on MSNBC's Morning Joe took multiple shots at pregnant trans man Thomas Beatie, whom they referred to as disgusting and the such. Obviously we all knew Beatie's Oprah appearance would cause a controversy, but had hoped that mainstream news agencies would have a little more class. Not Scarborough, though. |

Thomas Beatie's got some balls. No, not literally, but you've got to give him credit for telling all on Oprah. Yeah, the pregnant trans man made a splash with his Advocate admission, but nothing compares to the attention he'll receive after this appearance. Above you'll see Beatie and his wife, Nancy discussing the insemination process, sound effects and all. More impressively, Nancy's grown daughters praise Nancy and Thomas as nuptial role models who are "regular" and "very much in love." Oprah approves, of course. Will her viewers? After the jump, the couple talks being rejected by nine doctor. Their current doctor, meanwhile, describes Thomas' pregnancy as "average." |
» Beatie On Oprah!
Pregnant trans man Thomas Beatie will appear on this Thursday's Oprah, which is kind of the best thing that could ever happen to anyone trying to spread a message. [Willamette Week] |

Oprah's dog, Sophie, recently died, but not so for her real estate ventures: "Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey's best friend, has moved into a penthouse purchased in the name of Oprah's recently departed pooch, Sophie. According to deed-transfer records released yesterday, a company called Sophie's Penthouse LLC bought a $7.1 million full-floor sky palace atop the 36-floor building at 207 E. 57th St…" [NY Post] |

Says Berkus: I think it’s important for everyone to be seen doing what they love to do, so I actually don’t draw a distinction between quote-unquote stereotypical gay professions versus other ventures that people might excel in. Looking at people and judging them based on their sexuality, or discounting someone based on their sexuality is a really, really scary, rough, unnecessary road. I have the opportunity to be on television and I’m very grateful for that, but I don’t think the importance is that I’m hosting a television show. We'll we think it's important, but mostly so we can ogle you, Berkus. |

Entertainer Not Feeling Oprah's Political Rationale
The comedienne received such widespread press for her recent harangue against "Barak" Obama and Oprah, that she decided to take another stab at sociopolitical commentary. This time Barr takes on Oprah's apparent crime against Hillary Clinton: oprah winfrey has refused to do a show with the FIRST WOMAN candidate for President who has EVER won a primary election, in the history of the United States of America. Or, more likely, Oprah realized it would be disingenuous to (very publicly) endorse a candidate and then host a competitor. |

Trans Folk Top Lists
GLAAD announced its nominees for the 19th annual GLAAD Media Awards yesterday in Sundance. We've included the entire list after the jump, but we'd like to point out that trans issues and people have a special presence: …Material based on transgender issues has earned a number of nominations this year — most notably the work of columnist Christine Daniels in the LA Times, nominated as Outstanding Newspaper Columnist. Daniels received a fair bit of media attention in April 2007 as male sportswriter Mike Penner, who revealed in a surprising column that he was a transsexual male and would be undergoing a sex-change operation. Penner returned to the LAT — and her sports column — as Christine Daniels after the surgery and now blogs about her transition the blog, "A Woman In Progress." Similarly-themed articles in Newsweek, the St. Petersburg Times, and Salon and on TV on MSNBC, the Tyra Banks and Oprah Winfrey shows, 20/20 and the now-defunct Paula Zahn Live on CNN were also honored. If only GLAAD honcho Neil Giuliano and his gays were running Congress, huh? |

Lesbian Ranks As America's Favorite TV Personality
A new Harris Interactive poll ranks Ellen DeGeneres as television's most popular star: Ellen DeGeneres has vaulted to the top spot in The Harris Poll’s annual favorite television star list after five years in the bottom five, including last year‘s tie for the number eight position. And, after five years as number one, Oprah Winfrey drops to second place this year. Ellen better watch her lady loving back, because Oprah's going to be coming for it. Here's the PDF of the full press release. |

Did Oprah Get Technological Revenge
barak obama is an empty suit selling "hope" in lieu of Truth. Oprah Winfrey helped to elect Arnold Swartzenegger. I have no doubt that she voted her purse by doing this, as she is a large land owner in California, and that ilk fears Dems because they do not want to pay their "fair share" of Cali tax. Roseanne's blog has since been suspended. Don't fuck with Oprah. |

Pop Singer Gets Political
Madonna will help Hillary Clinton combat the Oprah-powered campaign of Barack Obama. Her Madgesty, whose charity work in Malawi has been supported by Bill Clinton's foundation, tells us she stands ready to serve. Will Madonna's power be enough to beat Oprah? We're not holding our breath, but we appreciate her gumption. |
