Queerty Query: Trent Vanegas
Trent Vanegas has taken blogging to the next level over at Pink Is The New Blog. We’re addicted to it like we are to crack. Trent took time from his fabulous life to catch up with Bradford Shellhammer, one of the first people to link to Pink back in the day, and dish on Britney, Madonna, and the differences between gay men and 15 year old girls. What got you into blogging? How did you first come up with the idea of captioning pictures? What is the craziest blog-stalking story can you tell us? Trent on Madge and Brit after the jump. |

Blogs 2005: So Gay!
We refuse to utter that horrible “B” word around here. You know, “blogosphere.” But we were compelled to list some of the gayest things in the world of blogs from 2005. There were many, but these take the big, pink, wedding cake. 5. Towleroad Does Brokeback. We don’t care if anyone tires of Andy Towle’s Brokeback Mountain coverage. We think it is just the reason why blogs kick butt. He has been meticulous in his coverage and we are certain more than one person in the “real” media has used his site as a resource. 4. Logo Does Blogs. Logo, the MTV gay network, actually made television personalities out of gay bloggers this year. Bloggers on TV? We know, a scary thought. But Andy, Perez, the Malcontent, and even our very own Bradford all snagged a spot. Now if we only knew who had the highest ratings. 3. Jossip Does Queerty. We know we already said we were the Coming Out story of the year, but this is our list and we’ll do what we want with it. Yes, we deserve to be on the So Gay! 2005 list of Blogs because, well, because we say so. The Internet got a little gayer this year. We take full responsibility. 2. Yahoo Does Gawker. Yahoo made it clear that it believes in the importance of blogs when it struck a deal this year with Nick Denton’s Gawker Media. The deal sees Gawker content on Yahoo News. A bit short of the Weblogs Inc./AOL merger, it still makes us smile Cheshire smiles. The thought of Gawker’s content appearing on mainstream news channels is hilarious. And now the #1 gay blog event of the year after the jump. |

Out There: Wear Pink
• Continuing the trend of blogger t-shirt lines, Trent over at Pink is the New Blog has unveiled a new shirt, which is available in really gay pink. Don’t worry, Queerty will soon launched a line of cocktail dresses and handbags. • Gay.com has the rundown on the first episode of Project Runway. We like all the contestants remaining, but we’re still sticking to our initial gut reaction. Our money is on Santino Rice. • The Plain Dealer, Cleveland’s largest newspaper, has repeatedly wanted to include our pal Brian’s faggotyassfaggot.com in their weekly blog write up. But they won’t because of the name, though they “printed the … Continued… Respond» |

Out There: Bea And Bee
• Oh good. Trent is NOT crazy. Wonder if he knows if Madonna’s playing the Roxy? • Bea Arthur is doing a benefit for the Ali Forney Center. We are so going. • The University of Utah held a Queer Spelling Bee, where “Queertestants” had to spell words like debonair, fag hag, and DeGeneres. • Michael Jackson is going back to court. This time as a jurist. He may be picked if the lawyers are looking to fill the jury with middle-aged white women. • Looks like Musto is hitting all the gay blogs. We thought we were special. Pink Is The New Mariah
It seems Trent over at Pink is the New Blog has pulled a Mariah Carey on us and needs to be hospitalized for exhaustion or something like that. Girl, get it together. While we hope he is ok and that he returns soon, since we love his blog more than you know, we also cannot help but be fascinated when bloggers do go through emotional crisis and share that with the world. Why would you do that? Maybe we just come from a different time in blogging, a time when bloggers did not fly across the country or get cover stories written about them or get TV gigs. And maybe we just don’t … Continued… Respond» |

The Andy Warhol Blog
Before there was Pink is the New Blog, Perez Hilton, or Jossip there was Andy Warhol. Most people know Mr. Warhol for his art, his films, and his wigs, but what many don’t know is that Andy was a first class gossip. The Andy Warhol Diaries were written by Pat Hackett and pulled from phone conversations the artist had almost daily from the 1970s up until his death in 1987. When the rather large book was released posthumously in 1990, it acted as a social account of the 70s and 80s, a large bound edition chronicling the lives of Hollywood stars, New York society, and the glitterati … Continued… Respond» |
