He's baaack!

Contentious filmmaker Bruce LaBruce last came at us with The Raspberry Reich, which focused on gay "terrorists". Now, LaBruce turns his iconic eye to a seemingly unrealistic, and quite timely, topic: zombies.

Otto; Or, Up With Dead People revolves around the titular, undead Otto (Jey Crisfar), who's trying to find his place in a world where zombies have become common place. While humanity has learned to cope with invasive flesh-eaters, they're none-too-happy to learn that the latest wave's a bit lavender.

Endangered, confused and fighting his zombie urges, Otto falls in with a Medea, who's making a flick about revolutionary gay zombies fighting back against roving anti-gay militias. The movie, which premiered earlier this year at Sundance, represents a huge step in LaBruce career, which started with Queercore fanzines and a little movie called No Skin Off My Ass.

Unlike some independent filmmakers, LaBruce's career has only grown in recent years, which affords him higher budgets and more intricate aesthetics - designer Rick Owens did all the costuming for Otto, which artist Terence Koh co-produced. Despite his success, LaBruce stays true to his message: assimilation sucks. The director widens his directive in this offering, however, taking on a broader consumerism and corporation-saturated society.

Our editor spoke with LaBruce this weekend and the gents hit the obvious talking points - conformity, the devolution of gay activism - but also get deep into some other issues, like Internet-based bitchey, where LaBruce stands on bareback porn and how the Canadian government may soon start hampering films like Otto.

Journalist action helped shutter some bareback porn in England.

Three DVD titles have been pulled from shelves after BBC's Newsnight revealed that a number of actors had become infected with HIV. While it's unknown whether the actors contracted the virus while on the eight-day shoot, authorities aren't about producers capitalizing on the deadly transmission.

Meanwhile, in related news, producer Rufus Ffoulkes will spend some time in jail after hiring a 16-year old for an unsafe porn shoot. The teen later tested positive for HIV.

The men of College Boys Live are going to be living on the street. The Homeowners Association of Lake Brantley, Florida, successfully petitioned against the porn site's presence in their neighborhood:

"When you're living in a house and required to be nude eight to nine hours a day to be on the internet cameras, it became a problem with parties and other activities. You've got a 9-year old girl who can't look out her bedroom window," said neighbor Mike Towers.

But the owners of the home and the website contend that their house was like every other house on the street, except for the business that went on privately within its walls. No performers were outside or in the view of neighbors, and their social activities remained largely unchanged and quiet since they moved in in 2002.

A few neighbors agree with the business. Robert Holland is one of them. "I think the guys could have been just left alone. They weren't running around the neighborhood or in the front yard naked, and I think it was because they weren't afraid to say they are gay," he said.

Yeah, that's what we're thinking, too.

Twenty-one year old porn star Jesse Santana sent us an open letter explaining that while he may be a porn star, he's not whore.

It's naive to hope that porn stars are always aware of their HIV status and practice safe sex. We've already heard Chi Chi LaRue's take on the matter. Now porn-centric blog The Sword has surveyed "nearly one hundred gay porn stars" to investigate the level of HIV awareness on set.

If you look at this chart, 23.5% of tallied actors always discuss HIV with their colleagues, while 29.6% never discuss it.

We can't verify the depth of The Sword's study, but the fact that about 29 people out of 100 "never" discuss such matters - period - really makes us wonder how humans evolved.

Finally, a Michael Lucas feud we can endorse! The pugnacious porn producer launched a fresh crusade today against - gasp! - himself!

Russian born Lucas sent out an open letter today questioning why one of his flicks, The Intern, won more GAYVN honors than another title, Gigolo. He complains that Gigolo received "raging" reviews and basically pleads that the GayVN's recognize the penis-heavy piece as the masterpiece he perceives it to be. Be sure, however, that Lucas does not want to raise the comparative bar too high:

My company has many questions about this situation. I do want to be clear: I am NOT comparing "Gigolo" to any other company's work. I am making a simple comparison to this movie and "The Intern." Even a retard wouldn't make the mistake that "Gigolo" is on a totally different planet. It's like comparing champagne to Coca-Cola, like comparing a diamond to a rock.

What sort of rock? Something hard and craggy, we're sure…

Remember the Seth Tobias murder mystery? You know, the one where the crazy wife named Filomena allegedly drugged and drowned hedge-funding CNBC talking head husband Seth, who erroneously believed he and his wife were going to menage with a porn star named Tiger? Well, that case - by far the most bizarre and long-winded in recent memory - just took few million new twists. That's if you believe this guy, Billy Ash.

Ash may or may not be the star witness in the investigation and, according to NY Mag, may or may not have some pants on fire. Above you see the video of Ash walking the world through how Filomena murdered Tobias. Our sister site Jossip has even more madness. Warning: may not safe for people with a grasp on reality.

Meanwhile, Filomena will face no criminal charges in Tobias' death. In fact, the cops have closed the case. Poor Ash will just have to fade away…
