Penis!
Those of you who think your undoubtedly beautiful penis belongs in a museum should probably pay attention to this one: Sigurdur Hjartarson is founder and owner of the Icelandic Phallological Museum, which offers visitors from around the world a close-up look at the long and the short of the male reproductive organ. His collection, which began in 1974 with a single bull’s penis that looked something like a riding crop, now boasts 261 preserved members from 90 species. The largest, from a sperm whale, is 70 kg (154 lb) and 1.7 meters (5.58 ft) long. The smallest, a hamster penis bone, is just 2 mm and must be viewed through a magnifying glass. Unfortunately, Hjartarson … Continued… Respond» |

Religion, Law Work Against Gays In Kenya
Law and religion are tag-teaming fearful gay Kenyans. But religion’s definitely on top. While colonial-era anti-gay attitudes have crept into the African nation’s legal policies, some could argue that multiple spiritual forces have an even larger role to play. …Many say that gays shouldn’t have rights, are “un-African,” and not good Christians. Kenya is a country of faithful people and religion plays a defining role in homophobia in Kenya. Seventy percent of the country is Christian and there is a sizeable Muslim and Hindu population. “This is an abomination that is totally unacceptable by God who formed us not to function in that way,” says Patrick Kuchio, a popular preacher at Parklands Pentecostal Church. More traditional … Continued… 4 Responses» |

Gay Kiss Saves Soap, Cashes In On Culture War
As The World Turns‘ gay gamble sure paid off. Despite all the conservative outcry over gay teen couple Luke and Noah, the long-running soap’s storyline has bucked the trend and garnered new viewers, reports the hilariously disinterested Gina Bellafante: Soaps have been shedding audiences for years now. The young, especially, have found their absurdities elsewhere; there is almost nothing put forth by the writers of All My Children that could, in a stupidity contest, outrank a single moment of The Hills. |
Gay Democrats Must Move Beyond Impotent Delegate “Goals”
We’re in the home stretch of primary season, but that doesn’t mean all’s well in the Democratic party. Aside from Hillary Clinton’s commendable tenacity, and the din of her vocal, though dwindling supporters, there’s a new tussle a brewing: the delegate selection tussle. Many state parties have shown resistance to the Democratic National Committee’s Shay Amendment, a measure that set so-called “gay goals.” These numeric marks were set to help each state or territory include gay people in their overall delegate camp. Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out quite as planned. And, if you haven’t read part one, you’d better catch up. |

“Gay” Priest Out
Poor Father Arthur Mallinson. The long-time Catholic priest resigned from his Dallas-area post yesterday as rumors swirled about his sexuality. Mallinson had moved to St. Michael’s in McKinney just weeks ago and immediately found himself the subject of speculation after it was revealed he once contributed to a site for gay priests. Father Mallinson’s involvement with the site, which is defunct, briefly made news reports in 2002. He told the diocese he had contributed to the site – which included his photo – when its purpose was to support gay priests in a celibate lifestyle but stopped in 2001 after others began posting pornographic material… Celibacy is a requirement of Catholic priests. Dallas Diocese officials … Continued… 9 Responses» |

Words Can’t Describe… Or, Won’t.
Notable homosexual, friend of Shirley and Out columnist Josh Kilmer-Purcell released his debut novel today. And, in honor of the title - Candy Everybody Wants - he gathered a motley crew to perform “the first-ever dramatic reading of this very important piece of un-televised television history…” Said piece goes by the name of Dallasty and includes Charlene Tilton, references many of you probably won’t get and general gay insanity. 2 Responses» |
Will Gay Delegate War Spoil The Race?
With only six primaries left - and Barack Obama’s resounding lead over rival Hillary Clinton - many people have basically declared the delegate selection over. That, however, would be premature. While the majority of the states and overseas regions’ delegate numbers have been determined, most of them must still decide which individuals will head to Denver this August. have ruled which candidate gets how many delegates, most of them still must decide who will head to Denver this August. And, like so many things in this election, there’s loads of drama surrounding the process. Infighting, allegations, personal homophobia and potentially impotent DNC “gay delegate goals” may derail the whole process. Editor Andrew Belonsky offers part one of an extensive two-part analysis, after the jump… |

Barney Frank: Stand Up Politician
“Barney Frank’s funny.” That’s basically the thesis of a New York Times collection of the homo-politico’s classic knee-slappers, which the paper says gives him the top spot as the Hill’s “master of the one-liner.” A sample: • “I am grateful for the obscurity of the opposition’s argument.” • “So, apparently, same-sex marriage is the V8 juice of America.” • “I am afraid that this bill is becoming the legislative equivalent to crack. It’s going to give people a short-term high, but it is going to be dangerous in the long run to the system and expensive to boot.” That last one came in relation to a bill authorizing $4 billion for the mythical war on … Continued… 9 Responses» |

Gay-Friendly Hospitals Scored
Dealing with hospitals as a homo can be quite the pain. For example, one may not be able to advise on medical treatment for a “partner” to whom they’re not officially married. In an effort to make things easier for the queers, Human Rights Campaign and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association teamed up for the Healthcare Equality Index, a handy guide to gay friendly hospitals across the country: Just over half of 88 hospitals got top marks under a new rating system created by two national gay-rights organizations which hope the standards will result in more compassionate treatment of gay and lesbian patients. Policies addressed in the ratings include patient nondiscrimination, visitation and … Continued… 1 Response» |

They’re Here…
The Sex And The City gals stepped out in London today to premiere their new movie. Yes, you read that right: a film based around New York City came out in England first. That sort of stings a bit. And we think this geographical diss has our colleague Whitney Little a bit bitter: “As expected, Sarah Jessica Parker stole the spotlight — much to the other stars’ dismay — with a ridiculous bird on top of her head.” We, meanwhile, think the hat’s fab! Heidi Does Ellen
At first we were angry to hear that lesbian funny lady Ellen DeGeneres allowed Heidi Montag to grace her famed stage. Then DeGeneres redeemed herself by admitted she doesn’t watch The Hills, which makes her one of about a dozen people left on this planet who have televisual standards. Watch as Montag talks about her nemesis, Lauren Conrad, her totally vile boyfriend and paving the way for her father’s ascension from hell… |
Robert Gant Makes Us Melt
Robert Gant’s a rarity in Hollywood. First of all, he went to law school. Second, he’s openly gay. And, as testament to our changing times, continues to get work. The handsome 39-year old will soon appear in the here! network’s Kiss Me Deadly, on which Gant plays the first gay spy whose post-espionage life goes haywire after the return of an old friend, Shannen Doherty. The movie will hopefully be the first in a series, but Gant’s not sitting on his honches. He’s also just wrapped Special Delivery, a Lifetime movie in which Lisa Edelstein plays his love interest. Yes, a gay man’s playing straight: a growing - and welcome - in Hollywood. Gant recently sat down with our editor to discuss the ins-and-outs of being homo in Hollywood, not being perfect and why Gant loves his life. |
