Rupert Murdoch
Action Against Bill O’Reilly’s Anti-Gay Ways

Bill O’Reilly probably thinks himself the straightest man in America, but he’s sure got a strange fixation with the homosexuals.

Will Dan Savage Go After Murdoch?

Portfolio’s Jeff Bercovici be pissed the NY Post named a 64-year old man recently injured in a sensational(ized) S&M accident. He writes, “…It’s hard to understand what kind of news value the Post’s editors saw in printing his name, or what they accomplished beyond embarrassing him…” Dan Savage also takes issue with the Rupert Murdoch-owned paper: “…If my dumb little weekly was in New York instead of in Seattle, I’d have reporters staking out the Nutcracker Suite, pumping the employees to see if they ever serviced a Murdoch. Maybe I’ll do it.” Please! [Mixed Media]

Is ‘NY Post’ Courting GLAAD?

GLAAD and The NY Post are forever warring.

The latest brouhaha comes after Rupert Murdoch’s daily ran a story about gender transitioning in Iran. As you can see, the title’s pretty inflammatory.

The Post must have known the gays would be on their print-soaked asses, so we can’t help but wonder if The Post has been using elementary taunts to woo the gay media watchdog. The paper is, after all, penned for people with a grade school education. (And that’s why we love it!)

GLAAD v. ‘Post’ (Again)

The homo media watchdogs over at GLAAD ain’t happy with the NY Post. They’re demanding Rupert Murdoch’s tab-rag remove the “Evil Lesbian Mom” headline. This is just one battle in the seemingly endless war of words.

‘NY Post’ Takes On “Evil Lesbian”

Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post can’t quit it’s homophobic ways. The daily featured a story yesterday entitled, “Evil Lesbian Mom Left Toddler To Die: DA”. Classy!

‘Post’ Apologizes For Trans Gaffe

In a shocking show of soul, the NY Post’s Page Six apologized for its trans-insensitivity.

In an item about There’s Something About Miriam, a Fox reality show about a transsexual woman, the Rupert Murdoch owned paper described the titular character as a “she-male”. GLAAD called them out and editor Richard Johnson originally replied, “You’re kidding me, aren’t you? I would have used ‘chick with a dick’ but we’re as [sic] family newspaper.”

Apparently Johnson had a change of heart: ….We erred yesterday in referring to a pre-op transsexual as “a she-male” - a term GLAAD informs us is “a dehumanizing slur.” We apologize to any and all we may have offended. Next step: vocabulary … Continued…

‘Out’ Gives ‘NY Post’ Vocab. Lesson

The Out kids have Venn diagram fever, too!

The gay glossy scoured the past year’s worth of The NY Post to find all the people labeled “flamboyant”, one of the tab-rag’s favorite gay synonyms. As you can see, the Rupert Murdoch doesn’t seem to know the meaning of “flamboyant”. Good thing the Out staffers did their job for them.

Lesson learned: not all gays are flamboyant, nor are all flamboyant folk gay. And, what’s more, the magazine discovered a new species: the flamgay.

NY Post ‘Taps’ Out Another Epithet

New York Post just doesn’t learn. After receiving repeated warnings, Rupert Murdoch’s tab-rag again uses “toe-tapper” to describe a gay man. The not-so-clever Larry Craig reference first popped up with regard to Thomas Roberts’ nudie pics.

Jeff Bercovici first brought the conflation to our attention, which prompted a response from the kids over at GLAAD.

If Only Jim Naugle Had A Brain

If one ever needed proof that Jim Naugle lives in another dimension, consider this snippet from last night’s conversation between the homophobic Fort Lauderdale mayor and CNN’s Rick Sanchez: SANCHEZ: Mr. Mayor, let me just stop you right there because you used the world “homosexuals” and you’ve been quoted as saying this, which I think is interesting. You said, “I don’t use the word ‘gay’ because most of them aren’t gay, they are unhappy.” Did you really say that or is that a misquote?

NAUGLE: Well, again, that was the Sun Sentinel who — they don’t subscribe to the Rupert Murdoch method of reporting the news and letting the people decide. They always have an agenda. Um, how does one even respond to something like that? Seriously, we’ve never heard anyone say such a thing about Murdoch without bursting into the giggles and/or bursting into flame.

But, wait, there’s more.

GLAAD Wants To Erase NY Post’s “Anti-Gay Stereotypes”

GLAAD’s getting all frothy and shit over NY Post’s latest crack at gay American Jim McGreevey, pictured above.

In their screaming action alert, “NY Post Publishes Yet Another Gratuitous Vulgar Anti-Gay Cartoon,” the gay watch dogs reminded enraged readers, This not the first time that the New York Post has provided space for Sean Delonas to perpetuate dehumanizing anti-gay stereotypes. Two days after the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex civil unions in October 2006, Delonas depicted a man carrying a sheep and wearing a veil in front of a marriage license window. On October 5, in the wake of the Mark Foley scandal, Delonas illustrated Jim McGreevey comforting … Continued…

NY Post Totally Down With Tranny Struggle

God bless Rupert Murdoch and his tabbie-newspaper spawn, The New York Post. Where else would you find such an eloquent, intricate and subtle headlining image?

Right off the bat “Free to be He-She” recalls the 70’s children’s cult classic, Free To Be… You and Me, thus giving it a broader cultural appeal. But it’s only after examining the story can one really appreciate the title’s real nuance…
