In addition the yesterday's comments, the former NJ first lady today penned a relatively long NY Times op-ed again expressing her solidarity with Silda Spizter. Don't be fooled into thinking this some girl-on-girl counseling, because the piece is all about Dina - and her martyrdom: But no, there’s no protocol for the spouse or partner stuck in the klieg lights. Sure, political consultants will tell you that it’s better to see a politician standing up with his wife by his side. But who cares what they think? At that stage, it’s over anyway. What are the advisers trying to salvage? That's the same daughter Mrs. McG uses as a pawn in her ongoing divorce drama. Disgusting. |
» It's Official.
New York Governor Eliot Spitzer just resigned following his hooker scandal. Lt. Gov. David Paterson will take over on Monday. He told the people that he always expected politicians to live by their word, and he should be no different. We didn't catch the speech, but WNYC reports that nasty NY Post reporter Andrea Peyser called out to First Lady Silda Spitzer, "Are you going to leave him?" People were apparently aghast. [WNYC] |

This gal got a grade-A scandal education when her husband, former NJ Governor Jim McGreevey, came out as a "gay American". Mrs. McG previously imparted her wisdom to Suzanne Craig, and now she's back to comfort Silda Spitzer, whose stony, press conference stare brought back many memories for Dina: "It all came back to me. I'm reliving that moment and what it was like standing there next to Jim. I wanted to embrace her and say,`Be strong, you'll survive this.'" Dina also insisted that Mrs. Spitzer ignore her husband's political advisers and "not what's politically expedient for him". As for the "him" in this equation, Mrs. McG thinks the governor should resign, of course. |

» Spitzer Staying?
Our collective head's spinning. Just as we were getting used to the idea of prostitute seeing Governor Eliot Spitzer resigning, senior aide Lloyd Constantine says otherwise, "He has not made up his mind… It is more correct to say that he is not resigning." Meanwhile, a source close to the Spitzer household says that wife Silda "doesn't want to look at him, and he doesn't want to bear the look that she gives when she does look at him." That's deep. Stars, Gays Come Out For Fundraiser
The New York-centric do gooders over at the Empire State Pride Agenda invited us to their fall dinner last night. Never ones to give up a free meal and a room full of attractive gentlemen - and others! - we accepted their kind invitation. So did our camera man, Zach Golden, who trailed our editor as he talked politics with Alan Cumming, Ted Allen and the ultra-handsome Cheyenne Jackson, who must be 8,000 feet tall. Christopher Meloni and Mary-Louise Parker were meant to be there, but they weren't. Oh well. Author and activist David Mixner delivered a rousing, emotional speech in which he described gays as "a magnificent community". The Empire State Pride Agenda dinner proved that. |
