The View
Out Of Touch.

On yesterday’s episode of The View, Joy Behar asked Republican presidential hopeful John McCain if he would reinstate the draft to keep the Iraq War going. McCain claimed that we don’t need a draft, because voluntary enrollment works. Apparently not, because our armed services are now actively recruiting from Uganda. Yes, Uganda. [SH]

Favorites.

Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey endorsed Barack Obama today. Speaking of Obama, the candidate appears on The View this morning. We saw a clip of him grinning and bearing with Barbara Walters’ advances. Being a politician’s hard. [Reuters]

Don’t Fuck With Babs!

Barbara Walters sure knows how to hold a grudge. The View matriarch rebanned Kathy Griffin for sending her up in a recent comedy special.

Says Griffin: “I get a call from [producer] Bill Geddie, and he says, ‘You were too mean to Barbara [Walters] on your last special, so you can’t come on.’ Can you believe it?” No, we can’t. That’s possibly the most unbelievable thing we’ve heard since that whole WMD thing.

What Big Breasts You Have, Colin Powell

Singer Kimya Dawson appeared on The View Monday. So did former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

The graphics staff must have been as confused as Sherri Shepard is dumb.

Rosie and Elisabeth Kiss and Make Up

Oh, happy day! After months of feuding, Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck are friends again: O’Donnell threatened never to speak to Hasselbeck again after they had a heated argument on the hit TV show “The View.”

But the comedienne has had a change of heart since leaving the talk show last year and has bought Hasselbeck’s two-month-old son Taylor Thomas a present to show there are no hard feelings.

O’Donnell tells People.com, “He’s very, very cute. I saw him on TV, and I sent him a lovely gift, and we (she and Hasselbeck) have been e-mailing each other. And peace prevails.” Could little Taylor Thomas be the second coming?

Will A Good Man Help Queen Latifah?

Queen Latifah may want to squash those lesbian wedding rumors, but the flames got fanned on today’s The View.

The girls were having a nice chat about Latifah’s Merry Christmas necessities: food, football, family and fun. Sherri Shepard - the comedienne whose world history leaves a lot to be desired - goes on to add, “A good man wouldn’t help”. She flubbed, of course, and meant to say, “A good man wouldn’t hurt”.

If you listen closely to Shepard’s correction, you’ll hear Whoopi Goldberg’s distinct voice: “A good man wouldn’t help.” Is this simply an expression of Goldberg’s radical feminist ideology or an indication of Latifah’s long-suppressed lesbianism? You be the … Continued…

Sherri Shepherd Will Not Let Her Son Wear A Dress

Sherri Shepherd sported a new ‘do, but spouted the same old garbage on today’s The View. Ms. Shepherd garnered headlines and ridicule after insisting Jesus predated history.

The never-informed hostess has now informs the world how she’ll do everything in her power to stop her boy from wearing a dress.

So, what about a transgender child? “Not in my house!” Barbara Walters is not impressed. Christian comedienne Shepherd also says that while she would love her hypothetical gay son, “There would be certain behavior that would not be going on in my home.” The holidays could get very tense…

Bill O’Reilly Offers His Gay “View” On Children

Bill O’Reilly got all chatty with The View ladies yesterday. And he brought flowers for Whoopi! No, the Fox News windbag wasn’t embracing his inner gay: he simply popped in to promote his children’s new book, Kids Are American, Too. It’s quite a shocking title, because we didn’t think children were truly American until they turned 18, when they can vote, fornicate and play the lotto. Thanks, O’Reilly!

In addition to opening our eyes on children’s citizenship, O’Reilly gives us a look into his “thug” childhood and his ideas on bullying. Did you know that the gays and the religious kids are the most bullied? That’s what O’Reilly says. So, who’s picking on these … Continued…

Remember: Rosie Needs A Job

Talk about a queen!

Unemployed entertainer Rosie O’Donnell paid Martha Stewart a visit today and took the opportunity to remind the world that she’s in need of a job.

Joshing with Stewart, O’Donnell asked for a gig on the domestic diva’s talk show. When Stewart said O’Donnell’s too expensive, Rosie not only pulled the “I visited you in the clink” card, she offered to work for “The View rates”. Martha sort of laughed it off and tried to move on with their segment, but tenacious Rosie simply wouldn’t quit.

Apparently O’Donnell still isn’t over getting squeezed out of her old gig.

Poor girl.

Lance Bass Up On ‘The View’

Former boy bander Lance Bass appeared on The View this morning to discuss his new book, Out of Sync. Watch as the gals pick Bass’ gay mind on Justin Timberlake, coming out and his mother’s reaction (”Are you going to heaven?”). Whoopi Goldberg reassures him, “I think God’s okay with you, baby”. She’s so sweet

Also, Elisabeth obviously doesn’t read the news, because she asks Bass if he and Britney Spears are still friends. Poor, poor Elisabeth’s dreams are totally crushed.

Anderson Loves Shoe Sales

Every once in awhile an ostensibly “straight” man lets out a little bit of fag.

You can’t tell by this snap, but CNN’s Anderson Cooper’s reacting to Whoopi Goldberg’s enticement, “We will be right back with fall footwear for under 50 bucks.”

Cooper’s totally forgotten that our planet’s in peril - the reason for which he appeared on the show. He’s definitely thinking, “Shoes!”

Not convinced? Head to Gawker to watch the video. It’ll take your breath away.

Meanwhile, we’re not sure if George Clooney’s playing princess in this picture, but he’s looking a bit light…

Rosie Takes More Shots At Babs

Rosie O’Donnell took another shot at former colleague Barbara Walters Wednesday night:
…Rosie O’Donnell mounted the stage at Roseanne Barr ’s invitation during her late-night set at Comix on W. 14th.

Rosie started off by saying, “When I was fired by Barbara Walters” - the first time she didn’t stick to “The View’s” spin that her departure from the show was by mutual agreement.

Rosie also confided that she and the veteran newswoman were actually so close early on in her tenure as moderator that Walters recommended Rosie use Astroglide. Excuse us while we burn out our eyes and cut off our testicles, which we’ll never use again.

O’Donnell wasn’t totally insulting. The lesbian comedienne admits that … Continued…

Whoopi Lusts For Pelosi Dream Team

Things got inappropriately - and nauseatingly - steamy on today’s episode of The View. Not only did Barbara Walters tell Faith Hill she wants to “do” hubby Tim McGraw, but Whoopi Goldberg seems to have solicited Speaker Nancy Pelosi for a menage: Even before Pelosi walked on stage to take her seat at the round table, the show’s moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, and its co-hosts - with former news anchor Barbara Walters leading the pack - started flirting with the speaker’s husband, Paul…

[Later] Barbara turned to Guest Pelosi and said she has heard Whoopi say before that she’d “do Paul Newman.”

“And I think she’d like to do your husband as well,” Walters deadpanned…

Yes, Whoopi implicitly … Continued…

Rosie Reader Rages Over ‘View’ Ratings

The View producers seem to have made the right move when they hired Whoopi Goldberg. Variety reported earlier this week that ratings are higher than ever for the daily talk show. While Goldberg, Barbara Walters and the girl are no doubt thrilled, a fan of former co-host Rosie O’Donnell’s seeing red.

In a post on her nonsensical blog, a Rosie reader questions ABC’s Nielsen numbers: While im all about creative use of ratings, I think we need to do something with the lovely people at the view insisting that the ratings are up without rosie when in fact they are not… Rosie goes on to cite numbers showing ratings are down 9 percent among … Continued…
